I was lubricating my paper shredder and one of my ferrets decided to try the oil. I guess it smelled good to him. He got a couple licks off the bottle before I caught him. I looked up the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and it is basically canola oil. So, is canola oil bad for ferrets.

Let's just say don't let him do it again. It's not good for him and because it's a lubricating oil it's not meant for "consumption" so the grade will not be clean of toxins. ciao

He had a full stomach before the canola oil and I've pushed a couple Tbs of pumpkin. He's gone to bed now. Thanks for the quick reply Heather.

Most plant based oils are of no use to our furry meat eaters. Extra virgib olive oil has been shown to have anti inflammatory effects as well as prevent heliobacter. Aside from olive oil, I think you'll get the most benefits from a meat based oil.

Almost all canola oils are GM oils now...you don't want to give them. They are the worst of the worst. Olive oil does have redeeming factors that appear to help our little ones. Olive oil has properties that seem to assist in preventing ulcers. It doesn't always work, but I know that my guys have benefited from this. Canola oil has no positives other than it's an oil ciao
