Has anyone tried this? I really don't want to break my blender but I want to chop/grind the chicken necks I bought into smaller pieces for Rolo to eat. So far, he will sit and lick at the whole neck for about 10-15 minutes, but then gets frustrated I guess because he doesn't know how to eat it. I figure blending it into more manageable pieces would be helpful. For now he's happy because he's getting premade duck along with his kibble which he loves lol.
Also, I'm so pleased - he has started eating his raw food from his bowl again, no more hand feeding! Plus he is getting way more accurate about using his two litter boxes. It's weird though, this time around he seems more accurate using the box in my room, and tends to make a mess of his cage. Weird.

I'm not familiar with the different types of blenders but I wouldn't do it. I totally fried mine (years ago I will admit) trying to make a soupy. For chopping necks I love the little knives that Katt sold me. They chop through bone so easily especially chicken necks. If I need to mangle a bone, it does the job. ciao

I haven't tried it, but I do have a Ninja blender, and I don't think the knives are built for chopping bone.

I just use a cleaver. Breaks all the bones up well

Well just looking at the blades on my Ninja blender, I don't think they are thick and strong enough to grind up bones. At the very least, I can tell you for sure that the bones would dull them like crazy. Few things dull a knife faster than hitting bone. I too use a clever It's not so much cutting as it is chopping Almost more like an axe than a knife lol...

I've been looking into a few knives but not many places sell cleavers, and was debating getting chicken shears but not sure how long they will last, I also don't have any extra money atm, as I am attempting to furnish my apartment ASAP so whatever I get can't be too spendy.

I wish I still lived at home, I could use my mom's $500 Vita mixer. Supposedly the Vita Mix can blend concrete or something and it has a lifetime guarantee. Miss it.

They're Ulu knives What I do is use poultry shears and cut the necks straight down the middle. Then I cut those pieces in half so I have 4 long pieces. I use my Ulu if I want to mash the bones any further, but my kids are usually okay with eating those pieces. You can make them shorter too, but mine prefer long bits lol

On the other hand, replacement the blades for the Ninja would only cost me $12.... hmmmmm

I'm looking on amazon and the reviews are all 5stars for various brands, but the people reviewing are using them to cut pastry dough and veggies?

Send Katt a pm. She can get them really cheap as she's in Alaska. Even including the shipping it likely wouldn't be as expensive as eBay or amazon.

I was searching around and found the post on the old forum, but shipping is 12.95 to canada (with Katt), and amazon has some good looking knives for about $4, with $5 shipping. I'm going to total that and see what the cost is.
