Or, you could simplify it 4 days bone in(includes whole prey) 2 days muscle meats, at least one of which need to be heart 1 meal organ(2oz liver, 2oz other organ) Other meal whatever you like other than organ. I tend to feed bone or whole prey on this one to firm up the stools. Just toss 1/2 tsp pumpkin per ferret per day into one of the meals.

I'm going to let this thread run it's course without supplying a mentor as the switch is almost complete except for the menu. If you would prefer to get a mentor anyway, just PM me and I will assign a mentor to you ciao

That sounds good, Heather. I've been planning their last few meals a bit more carefully. This morning for breakfast, they got 2 oz. of chicken breast and 2 oz of chicken wing. For dinner, they got 2 mice (totaled 1.5 oz), a chicken heart, and some liver. Did I do good for today? Haha. (The fur is roughage, right?)

Yes, that's fine And yes, the pumpkin we give them is to replace the fur they'd get in whole prey Why not write out a weekly menu so we know where to tweak it, if it needs to be?

Here was their food for today:
Breakfast - 3.9 oz of chicken wings .1 oz of pinky mice
Dinner - 1.5 oz of chicken heart .8 oz of hopper mice 1.8 oz raw medallion
I put some frog legs and giblets in the fridge tonight to thaw so they can eat something besides just chicken and hearts.

Today, their breakfast was: 3.5 oz rat 1 oz chicken hearts (gizzards weren't thawed yet) .5 oz liver
I'm going to go to the Asian market on Monday and get some spleen and uterus so I don't have to give liver for organ all the time.
When I give raw medallions and whole prey, how do I calculate that into the 75/10/10/5 ratio?

Ok, great . What we need you to do is make up a full week's menu of what they can be fed with what you can access That way, we've got a better idea of whether or not you have a solid understanding of what their nutritional needs are Take a look at some of the threads in the archives. Most menus will be on the last page.

I set up a menu guideline type thing, going by your list you gave by days. Since liver is the only organ I have right now, I'm going to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and try to find kidney or something. Either that, or just feed something besides organ until I can get to the Asian market. I'll grab some spleen, uterus, and kidneys there. Would pig ears, snout, etc. count as muscle meat? Since today is Saturday, I'll kind of wing today's food, but will plan out this next week's menu. I'll post it here when I'm finished.

Color codes help me go quicker. LOL Before I get into the menu - are bird collar bones safe to feed? I didn't account for those, but if this menu is okay or needs tweaking somewhere with the bone, I'll add that in as well to throw in some more variety. Here's what I have, tell me what I need to improve on/change. Sunday - bone in meat:Breakfast: 3 oz. mice with 1 oz. chicken wings Dinner: 2 oz. frog legs, 1 oz. medallion, 1 oz. wings Monday - muscle meat:Breakfast: 3 oz. giblets, 1 oz. chicken breast Dinner: 3 oz. chicken hearts, 1 oz. giblets Tuesday - bone in meat:Breakfast: 4 oz. poultry neck and/or back Dinner: 3 oz. rat, 1 oz. wings Wednesday - organ/something else:Breakfast: 2 oz. liver, 2 oz. uterus Dinner: 1 oz. medallion, 3 oz. drumsticks Thursday - bone in meat:Breakfast: 2 oz. frog legs, 2 oz. wings Dinner: 1 oz. medallion, 3 oz drumsticks Friday - muscle meat:Breakfast: 3 oz. hearts, 1 oz. giblets Dinner: 4 oz. poultry breast Saturday - bone in meat:Breakfast: 2 oz. drumsticks, 2 oz. wings Dinner: 4 oz. poultry back/ribs

Okay, heart is good. I'd cut the liver back by half, since they are also getting organs in the whole prey and medallions. The uterus as well. They are getting enough bone by the looks of it. 4 proteins, so that meets the dietary needs(more is always better!) Ears would be a chew treat, and snout is an organ. So you'd use that, or uterus, or kidney, etc in addition to the liver. Wow- you've got a complex menu ;D Mine is more like Monday they turkey necks. tues. they get pork chunks, wed. mice ;D

Now- next question. How would you be at switching things out when needed? As in if you find say, lamb, on sale- you know where you can substitute?
