Yes she has had several biopsies, cultures and scrapings. All come back ringworm&staph. I believe vet said it was sensitive to Baytril and other antibiotics that's why she's been on Baytril for so long.
A strange thing happened yesterday after Rebel135 suggested to use sulphur flower on the skin, I began a quest to find some. After calling several holistic/health stores with no luck, I gave up. I then went out, got gas and across from the gas station was a holistic oriental medicine place. I went in and of course they had the sulphur but the Dr said it would not do anything in such an advanced case. She then spent 1 hr explaining why Baby will never get better especially on antiobiotics. She said that her body is so weak and the meds are making her weaker and that the infection gets stronger and more resistant. I brought Baby in to see her this morning and she gave me 2 types of energy medicines to rid her body of toxins and infection and also gave me some Biosalt to paint onto her skin. I feel like things happen for a reason and walking into that holistic office was meant to be. My vet couldn't give me a different app for today so I will be bringing her tomorrow. But honestly I dont feel that he is going to be able to help her anymore. But we'll see maybe I will ask for a different antibiotic.
Sorry for the long story and Thanks again!

Sherry, to be honest, if its a staph infection, or impetigo in any form or way, it'll be hard to diagnose i think. Josiah went months without being diagnosed (and poor child had so many cultures taken!) til a random doctor one day said "oh, it looks like impetigo." And it was! So, she can have culture taken, but if the vet isn't knowledgeable about this kind of thing, I don't know if the poor thing will get an accurate diagnosis. From what Ivannag said, it looks like a horrible staph infection in the blood causing bubbles that pop and crater. It sounds like its been going on for a while, Josiah's did that til medicine could control it, so it doesn't crater as bad. All the same ivannag, don't discard what the others say, it may not be even impetigo, but a similiar disease with more deadly results for your little ferret. Human-size, staph takes a while to make somebody really sick. In a ferret, the body size is smaller and it can multiply more quickly. It can still be deadlier for a ferret than a human. We're all lighting healing candles for your baby, Ivannag. Come back and tell us what the Doc said, okay? Thank you... Just wondering what medicine was Josiah on for the impetigo?

Fingers crossed this Holistic place is able to help her! Allopathic medicine hasn't been able to do much, so maybe this will.

I'm a firm believer in all things happen for a reason. Good luck with your new path. It takes a bit of an altered point of view to walk away from allopathic medicine. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to our sense of correct but it seems to work. Please keep us posted. I'm always fascinated by alternative medicines

OUCH! that looks painful! Definitely stop using any vinegar, betadine or iodine. Besides being painful to apply these products all are detrimental to compromised tissue. Vinegar is acidic and has a high salt content - neither are good for raw skin. Iodine and betadine will both kill living tissue.
Ringworm is tenacious by itself and the ONLY product I've ever seen work against it is KOPERTOX - Ringworm isn't really a worm - its an AEROBIC fungus, so you have to strangle it, as well as gut off its food supply - KOPERTOX creates an airtight skin after it dries, its the copper napthenate that kills off the fungi as well as will seep into nearby tissues making them inedible to the fungi. The drawback is that it is a horrid green color, that takes forever to grow out and I'm not sure of applying it to a ferret unless you have a fool proof way to prevent the ferret from licking it off.
Ringworm is highly contagious and besides trwating the ferret, you have to vigorously treat its surroundings, bedding, housing and handlers!
Plant fertilizers often can be found with high concentrations of copper napthanate - so you can make a wash using that for her surroundings.
Sulfur by all means may be a great rescue remedy for her skin. Sulfur is a necessary mineral used by the body for rebuilding cell structures - its also a mineral in extreme short supply in most diets. But you CAN find it at practically any chain store pharmacy like Eckerdts or Walgreens, maybe CVS - but I haven't seen it at Walmart. It is an over the counter product. Usually called "Sublimed Sulfur". Here in florida some of us are lucky in one respect to have well water that is sulphurized - stinks like rotten eggs -but its some of the healthiest water you can drink ( with your nose pinched).
Put the powdery sulfur in a sock and poof her all over. Make a paste of it with water and dab it onto her open wounds. Mix it into a warm bath water and allow it to dry on her - don't rinse it off. Sje'll look like a little yellow easter egg. But it may be just what her skin needs for relief as well as nourishment!
I've used it successfully in the past when Emmett,my pot belly pig, was a baby, for his mange infection; several horses finally got relief from Culicoides fly bites (sand midges) that caused the horses to rub themselves hairless and raw! Its great too for you if poofed around cuffs and sleeves to prevent ticks from attaching.
You already know that her long term steroids have wrecked her immune system so if its in her cards to pull through you need to do your utmost to feed her immune system.
What many folks don't realize is that skin is an ORGAN and its the largest ORGAN any animal has! So when the skin is under attack the body goes into overdrive to attempt to heal this organ because compromised skin, means the rest of the body will succumb to attack.
Vitamin E, selenium, calcium, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, Vitamin A, Sulphur (Sulfur), FULL RANGE of amino acids - there are 22 of them, plenty of fresh clean water, collagen, digestible fats will all help her regenerate skin outside as well as inside. B vitamins will help her too as well as stimulate her appetite.
If her skin is going to respond to the sulfur you'll notice within days. Staph infections take forever to get under control and they never fully get stopped because they simpy get buried someplace else in the body.
This little ferret has an AWFUL lot of extremely hard to heal and some impossible to stop problems. Sometimes the kindest thing to do is the hardest decision to make. Her attitude will tell you what to do. If she's still alert. Eager to see you, interested in her cage mates, can go potty on her own, shows interest in food - then there is still fight within her - but if not - she's just hanging on for your behalf and its time to let her go onto her last great adventure
Our thoughts are with you - keep us posted. Hugs to you both, Kim

Since its a combo of ringworm and staph im not sure if it will help her at this point but my vet said i can use vaginal yeast infection cream(monistat for humans) for ferrets ringworm since it is an anti fungus medicine. Giving her probiotics will help her body fight the bad bacteria she is encountering as well.

The more I read up on alternative medicines the more logical they seem, especially with chronic disease... hopefully your little girly has enough fight left in her to see if this new approach makes a difference. The tough thing is that allopathic medicines and some (though not all) alternative medicines cancel each other out and you can't simultaneously use treatments from both schools. Hopefully your little one does well.

Good News!!! Vet says erupting of the skin could be a good thing bc pus can come out that way. He says now is the time to beat the heck out this infection bc now anything I put on her skin will actually get absorbed. Also switched from itaconazole to oral Lamisil. Baby has been doing better actually almost overnight! She's running around the house, into the kitchen for food(whenever I don't get a chance to serve her in bed ;D and overall seems to be in better spirits. What a relief! Thank you all so much for helping me get through this. It means a lot. I will keep posting with updates.

Here's hoping!!! I'd still check out for the holistic meds as well, since they'll also help cleanse the toxins for her. But I'm glad she's obviously feeling better

Did he say if it was similar to impetigo? What was the diagnosis?

Did he say if it was similar to impetigo? What was the diagnosis? No he didn't say anything about impetigo. I had so many questions that I forgot to ask. But it's still just a case of ringworm gone horribly bad due to weak immune system from longterm Pred. But something is finally kicking in, whether it's the anti fungal or blood circulation meds I'll never really know.
