Hey! So a month ago, I transitioned my girls on Chicken soups. I was suggested by some users to use my blender, put 8oz of chicken, one liver, three hearts and 1/2-1 tsp of powdered egg shells. When I went to the store the first time I got hearts and livers. Then, the other day I went and found gizzards, they don't seem to mind with the gizzards in. I put one per 8ox. but should I put more or less or is 1 good? But my real question is this: For the first three weeks I've been using my blender, but I am slowly killing it. It works too hard to blend it all and smells like burning after a bit, so I burrowed my mom's small meat grinder. I tried a batch with that, and the girls have said nothing about it. They have been on grinded instead of blended for about 4 days now and they seem to enjoy just as much (if not more... they seem to eat much more...). Is it ok to use a grinder? I hope so! Thanks! Definitely use the grinder That's what they'd be transitioning to anyway in the course of time! And it's the gizzards killing your blender. They are too tough for it. With the meat, etc. you also have to make sure you have enough liquid, or that could do it as well.

I use my grinder....I totally fried (went up in smoke) my blender doing meat smoothies. You still have to be careful but it does the job with little trouble ciao

Lol my poor blender also went up in smoke. I had to put it outside till trash day years ago. Not that I need to blend meats anymore but I wonder if a food processor would be better for those who can't get a grinder.

Thanks for the confirmations! Sherry, actually... I came close to killing the blender (May already be highly damaged... we'll see nect time I try to put something in it lol) before the gizzards! lol I only had one chicken breast, three thighs, three hearts and one liver when it started to smell like birnt rubber.... lol! There WAS a lot of water in it (almost 1 cup and a half I think?) Lol! I am very glad that grinding is just as good! They don't seem to mind the diference at all... Thanks!! Sandra, Lyla & Meeko

I would say, as long as your kids don't mind the ground meat mush, go for it. I know my crew don't prefer ground, and will mainly eat whole chunks or smooth soup (with chicken fat chunks). I think it is handy to have a blender on hand though, in case one of your babies get sick. I know my babies hate chewing when they're sick, and the only food I can usually get into them is watery soup. Just a thought

Out of curiosity- did you cut it up into tiny chunks, or basically toss the whole thing in? If I cut meat even as big as 1" pieces, the blender will start to strain.

JAckie, yeah no, mine don't seem to mind at all! I'm quite happy! If anything, they've ben eating a bit more... but they don'T need to chew... the grinder still grinds the chicken in very small pieces... Sherry, I cut them in small-ish pieces before the blender (Not overly small, but maybe 1 inch lol Thanks!! Sandra, Lyla & Meeko
