Would the NV raw be an adequate alternative to raw instead of making it myself? Or is it still missing key ingredients? It seems to only have 13 percent protein, that doesn't seem like nearly enough but maybe its different for raw? Would you use the dog or cat? Thanks guys.

It is different for raw. The protein percentage is usually based on dry matter. NV raw is a fairly good commercial raw. I feed it to mine to get some variety in their diet. Non digestibles are only 5%, which is acceptable.

I would have to get a bag of each flavor right? About how long would a 3lb bag last do you think?

The more variety, the better As long as you have at least three, they'll be getting a variety of nutrients. The only downside is that it's ground which means no teeth cleaning benefits As far as how much, I have four ferrets (two males and two females). They eat about 8oz a day (8 medallions split into two meals). Each bag has 48 medallions, so 1 bag will last about 6 days. If I have three bags (different proteins), it will last about 18 days. It all depends on how many ferrets you have and how much your ferrets will actually eat. Each meal, I feed enough to last them 8 hours. Also, I add a little water and mash it up into a mush (some people add a little more water to make a soupie). Hope this helps

Different ferrets are going to prefer different varieties. Some adore lamb, some hate it. Same goes for everything else. You can get rabbit, venison, beef, chicken and bison.

Also, you should consider adding some bone-in meats like chicken wings to get the dental benefits of raw. The mush will really gunk up their teeth, and without having to really chew and tear, you'll have to brush their teeth regularly.
