Do you have any idea how amazingly fast your guys have come along already? As soon as you feel ready to graduate, we can get you there ;D One thing, the chicks, although great as a treat meal, you do realize they don't hold a lot of nutrition? Same thing goes for the very young of almost any species. As for eating larger bones, how do you think they'd do with the middle part of the wing, cut between so it's two separate pieces, but not smashed up.

they have done so well in the last few weeks! I'm aware of the lack of nutrition in the chicks, that's why it's only a once a week meal. I think once I'm done with the 10 or so I have left I will use my money elsewhere. Chico ate all of his wing last night, with me cutting it into three pieces and slightly crushing the larger end. Dakoda still had some left in her bowl this morning I'll leave that with her for a while longer.

They really do!! I think it would make an even better snack in summer since they take quite a while to defrost.

Yeah- just give them frozen, and they can work at them and stay cool at the same time ;D

I see if they will take whole necks from me yet on their next bone-in feed. They loved the mice last night.

I've been meaning to drag myself back on here, holidays for tafe and everyone being sick :/ blarrr. So thankful that I can give them whole chicken necks and wings, instead of slaving out in the kitchen with a mallet. So proud of both of them! They are less picky and will just go for anything I give them now. I think they are done! The rest is up to me to work out, ie the money thing Ideally I would love to feed them heaps of whole prey but at $8 for a single rat!! I think it's one rat a week :/

In how much detail do you want this, It will depend on what I can get my hands on, whats on sale, how they are eating etc. Per ferret: Monday - AM Muscle meat - PM bone-in Tuesday - AM 2 x Whole Mice - PM Heart meal Wednesday - AM 1/4 Jumbo rat - PM 1/4 Jumbo rat Thursday - AM Organ meal - PM 2 x Whole Mice Friday - AM Muscle meat - PM Bone-in Saturday - AM Heart - PM Bone-in Sunday - AM Whole chicks - PM Bone-in
Bone-in is only chicken for now! Necks, ribs, backs, feet, wings, wing tips. I feed two different meats in the muscle meals (Goat, lamb, beef, kangaroo, pork) I feed two different meats in the heart meals (lamb, goat, chicken and beef) I feed two to three different types of organ in their organ meals.

Congratulations you've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone, now. You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would also like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days either Sherry or I will lock down this thread but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it [image] . Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly ;D. ciao
