Normal amount for most active, young males would be 3-6 oz a day of meat.

Off to buy some scales this afternoon so I can track how much they are eating. I got Chico weighed today his 1.94kg. My new little girl (1.45kg at six months) Doesn't eat the kibble I have, so I got some cheap junk for her But she was eating large chucks of chicken for me last night. I'm going to defrost some of my bone-in stuff and see if she'll take to it. Maybe Chico will get the idea if she's eating it.

No go with the chicken-neck last night :/ Although they both loved their large chucks of chicken thigh meat. What should I try now? larger chucks of chicken, stir fry meat for example? so they get use to pulling it apart? or buy a whole thigh and dived them in half?

Try the chicken neck again, but smash it up with either a hammer, or the back of a cleaver to break up the bone, then chop it up, see how they do with that.

Sorry I haven't been active, with the the passing of or kitty and house inspections its all be a little hectic I picked up so pinkies from the pet store (OMG expensive) butt they gobbled them up . I didn't see Chico eat the one I gave him last night but I can't see it stashed anywhere (He lives in our living room ) and the other one in his bowl was half eaten and he polished off all the mine I had out. I gave him a frozen on this afternoon he's been playing with it for a while now and gone to sleep. Dakoda also plays with them frozen then gets stuck into them as soon as they defrost. I have some chicken necks defrosting at the moment, I'll try them again tonight.

Fantastic for both of them!!! And since ferrets are essentially lazy eaters try smashing up the necks a bit to make it easier for them. Once they build jaw strenth, they'll be quite able to crunch their own.

I have faith in them. I couldn't resit buying some mince and baby chickens when at the pet store today. I gave Dakoda a mouse while it was still frozen to amuse her, she loved it and I loved watching her eat it I plan to take advantage of her curiosity while she it young. I forgot to defrost the chicken necks Hopes they wont take too long. I might put Chico in the cage or bathroom tomorrow with one of the mice and see what he thinks.

You go DaKoda!!! Good girl With the necks, but them in a sealed baggie, and pop the baggie in some warm water. It'll defrost them a lot faster And let me know how Chico does with his mouse If it's live, put him in the tub if you have one. Or you could use a large plastic tub that the mouse can't get out of.

I've got a mouse defrosting now for Chico And I let Dakoda lose on a frozen baby chick. I love this girl. Why is whole prey easier then raw? I would like them to eat both, but ideally id feed them mostly whole prey. The chicken necks went untouched again last night :/

Oh, what brats!!! I think part of it is the bones are easier to crunch in most whole prey. That and it's possible they instinctively know that is more along the lines of what they'd eat in the wild. If you want to try the necks one more time, break the h*ll out of the bone, and take something like a cleaver and chop it up as well Kind of make a mince out of it. Stubborn little sods

Mk one more go again tonight. For now, i put Chico in a large tub with the mouse he ate the head and decided he wanted out. So cute watching him try and jump out of a tub larger then him with a mouse in his mouth Anyway.. I think I need to buy another litter tray for the bathroom... I don't want to find a mouse in my shoe -stalks him-

No more mouse.. and Dakoda's asleep next to a headless chicken. Should I work my way up to larger whole prey animals, small rats, adult rats etc. I can only seem to find mice, rats and baby chickens frozen here. So no rabbits unless I'm feeding them live. Should I start feeding a few meals of whole prey while I'm still trying to get them to eat raw? If so how much? aim for the 3-6oz per ferret? I really need to go shopping tonight scales, hearts, organs, a mallet..
