Have they got a virus? They don't have to be sick, to have their bodies react to the attack. "Each lymph node is also an important part of your immune system. Your lymph node filters fluids, catching viruses, bacteria, and other unknown materials. Then your unique white blood cells destroy the unwanted materials. Typically, it is caused by an infection that your lymph node is destroying. A slight enlargement and softness means the swollen lymph node is succeeding in the tough battle." Hope that helps ciao

Did they see a vet to determine the large nodes? Any flus going around? Coughing, diarrhea, etc?

Are you sure that the lymph nodes are enlarged? Your ferrets may have large fat pads around the lymph nodes. Even vets that are unfamiliar with ferrets have mistaken fat pads for enlarged lymph nodes.
Also, lymph nodes can be enlarged as an inflammatory response rather than a disease such as lymphoma. Where are the nodes located? how hard do they feel?

They are soft I thought just the three had it but all of them are kind of big. I just started checking them often. They are not sneezing often only when they find a dusty spot in the house. No cough. I can see just a slight clear snot coming out of one of their noses. I guess I don't really know if they are big or not but It feels large to me. I will take them in for a check up if they start acting weird. they seem to be a little itchy but the summers are really dry. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything.

They are under the arm pit and behind the back knees.

I don't know for sure but I've heard that an inflamation response as in an allergy, (environmental) can cause inflamed nodes. There are often allergy responses to climatic abnormalities. Either very wet or dry, creates a surplus of possible allergens that may not be there in more temporate times. It's just a thought and maybe worth looking at. Unless they're huge and you're really concerned, perhaps sitting back and observing might be the option at this time ciao

Thank you Heather. We have been getting lots of rain. Which is not a normal thing and the air is blowing on them from the cooler but it needs to be or it will get to hot in the house. I was checking poop It looks good to me. I would think an allergy would just effect one ferret not all four but I don't know. I am going to keep an eye on them.

you are most likely feeling the lymph nodes surrounded by their fat pads. it is actually difficulty to feel the lymphnodes if they have fat pads especially in chunky males! are the lymph nodes hard? do you feel a hard ball ?or is it soft and mushy? i would say that they should be about the size of a pea and mushy soft. not hard. can't describe it really well. sometimes with infections the lymph nodes will enlarge and then go back down to normal. if they are acting fine then keep an eye on it. if they feel large and hard then i'd take them to the vet.

Some of my fat boys have lumps around where their lymphnodes are and the vet said they are fat pads. They are really squishy feeling around their legs but firmer on the neck.

Most likely just feeling the fat pads since you said they're soft
