I’m not fully sure if this is an emergency but I’m a very paranoid ferret mama. So one of my boys Gizmo chipped his tooth yesterday not sure how. I suspect he jumped off my very tall bed and his tooth hit the tile because he’s kinda known for making some reckless jumps without a second thought. But I’m on the fence if he should go to the vet or not it is a pretty bad chip I won’t lie a little less than half his canine tooth. But the pulp is only kinda visible but almost not visible ion not really sure tbh it seems like it’s the very very tip of the pulp. Like not enough that it hurts him or he can feel it because he’s eating his food pretty normal and didn’t really seem to be in pain when I touched it. But I was reading up and I’m more worried about secondary infection especially since they eat raw. So I’m not sure I’d rather not have to get the tooth pulled but if I must I will. Luckily he seems fine otherwise. I will try to figure out how to upload a picture of it and you guys can give me your opinion because I’ve personally never had a chip that big until last night.

Also, if someone could let me know how to attach a picture using iOS , that would be super helpful

I’d definitely get an exposed pulp checked out, infection can set in. To upload pics from your phone make an account on an image hosting site and copy their link to your photo to display it here. Here’s one I use: imgbb.com/upload

I could probably get him an appointment next week do you think that’s too long of a wait?? Or should I rush it sooner?

Should be ok to wait until next week, keep an eye and a nose on it. Any foul odors, get him in sooner if you can. Expect it to turn dark in the time being. Yellow is bad. Good photo taking skills, by the way! I came expecting a blur because it’s a ferret’s mouth, of course.

Ok thank you so much I really appreciate your advice like I said luckily it seem’s like he doesn't even notice it and is still eating and acting normal so I’m hopeful he’ll be ok. I just feel bad that he may need to get it pulled especially since he’s only about 1.5yrs old and he’ll look like a little pirate with a missing tooth lol. Luckily he’ll have no problem adjusting without the tooth worse case since I feed whole prey grinds. Lol and thanks yeah I had to scruff him because I wanted the best advice on what to do so I knew I needed a good photo hahaha. He’s a lucky boy because a millimeter more and I’m sure it most likely would’ve been very painful with the exposed pulp but it’s just barely exposed like to the point where it didn't even bleed so I’m just glad he’s not hurting but his perfect teeth are gone 😭.

get that lookd at. I lost one of my faves to a chipped tooth that got septic in a couple days. At first exam, it was ok, but she must have worn it down or something because a month later it was bad. heavy antibiotics was too late.
