Are there any good options for grinds that could cover the full range of diet my ferrets need that come pre-portioned out? I’m looking at Darwin’s grinds since it looks like they break down into half pound sections in the package. Would a diet of the chicken, turkey and beef grinds be balanced and complete for them?

I looked at their ingredients and nutritional breakdowns, and a rotation of all three should be sufficient for a complete diet plan. But, you’re not gonna find proportioned food appropriately sized for ferrets from a cat and dog company. This is where ice cube trays are your friend. Take the meat and pack it into ice cube trays and freeze, then pop the frozen cubes into a freezer bag for easy grabbing and thawing, makes everything a breeze. Flexible silicone ice cube trays are even better as there’s no tension popping the meat back out once it’s frozen, you just flex them and it comes right out. Each standard ice cube is one ounce, so it’s easy to count them out and divide them into meals the right size for your ferret. They vary incredibly in how much they’ll eat a day. Most ferrets will eat between 2 oz and 5 oz a day. When you first make a switch to ground products, they may eat even more because it’s so easy to swallow. Monitor their weight and adjust accordingly.
