So my little Perry I brought home yesterday. She is already box trained and loves to play with my cats. I want to harness/leash train her so I can take her outside on walks, but she won't hold still long enough to let me put on the harness! Any suggestions?!

Give it a little time, she has to trust you handling her in order to put on the harness. Also be prepared for her to act like there’s a giant spider on her back instead of a harness, haha. Let her run around and try to rub it off for a while before attaching the leash, and lead her around the house by leash first before taking her outside. They can wiggle out of some harnesses, so watch for that before letting her outside.

Welcome Perry to the family. ^_^ You might try sneaking the harness onto her when she's tired or sleepy, or distracting her with a favorite high-value treat or letting her roam in an area new to her. Some react to it differently than others, so just be patient. You want them to be able to move normally in it, but it does need to be snug enough that they can't sneak a foreleg--or their entire body!--through and get it off, but that means they need to get used to it too.

I have had a couple take to it easily, and some that just flat-ferted and refused to move until I took the harness off, lol. Obviously they didn't go for walkies.

Let her inspect it and spend some time doing it. I've found that helps it not be such a "WHAT is this THING on me?" experience.

If you can get it on, you can also get them use to it by putting it on for short bouts and increasing the time in the harness.
