New ferret owner here. I’m feeding my ferret grinds with the muscle meat, bone and organs together. I’m feeding her duck (she LOVES duck), chicken, beef, pork and goat and supplying additional bone in meats as needed as the bone percentages are just roughly 8% in the grinds. I’m just curious if duck and chicken count as one type of protein just because there both poultry but I know duck is more like red meat so not sure if that makes them more separate. I only ask because duck is her favourite and chicken is next in line, so I end up mixing either duck/chicken with either the beef, goat and pork because she doesn’t like them as much. She also gets fish roughly once a week.

I always counted it as different.
just a little info-- When ferrets have constant digestive issues after eating chicken, they may/may not have problems with other feathered critters---but that is something you would have to investigate.

I also count as different because duck is so much higher in that lovely fat.

It is different, However it is best to get some protein from a different types of animals. If you feed all poultry you could be missing out on some vitals that come from other protein sources.
Mine also prefer Poultry. However I have found they also enjoy Rabbit. Their always seems to be a fight over who gets to the rabbit first.
Beef, pork and goat are not their favorites but they do eat it.

Duck, turkey and chicken are all different proteins.
Interesting how most ferrets like poultry or feather meats but my ferret rather likes the hoofed proteins more then feathered proteins.
