I read through the “good, bad, ugly” ingredients post and found the answer to my vegetable glycerine question, but the supplement I’m considering giving my girl has “vanilla and raspberry natural flavor” ...any opinions or info on these?
A little background, if important: She’s an odd one- vet believes she has both insulinoma tumors and a glycogen tumor, so her blood sugar is balanced by diet alone (no meds). She’s definitely becoming adrenal too, but either very mild or very early. She likely has an enlarged spleen (recent), which we can’t have looked into yet due to the covid-19 mess. She’s at least 6, but probably older (she was a stray so we don’t know). I’m extremely careful about her intake as she has unstable blood sugar...I’m hesitant to give her anything new that her body may even *think* is a sugar, as I don’t want to create a crash. Thanks I’m advance for any info!

Taste it- if it’s sweetened, you’ll know! Be extra careful about fake sugars, which are very bad for carnivores.

I don't have a lot of advice about the ingredients, I just wanted to possibly make you aware that when treating adrenal with the implant that blood glucose can lower - so you may need to introduce pred after adding the implant. Good luck with your fuzzy!

Thanks so much! I did know that, but it’s definitely an under-published fact many others don’t know, so thank you for mentioning! So far as the pred, my girl can’t handle it. It literally took every ounce of personality and happiness away from her and she was miserable. She also developed diabetes while on it, so the vet agreed we needed to get her off of it. (I weaned her down- another important fact: never stop pred without vet guidance and *always* wean them off; never cold turkey. The same goes for humans on pred.) I know about diazoxide too, but given that she likely has “competing tumors” messing with her blood sugar levels, I don’t know how safe that drug is, either. She’s a most amazing ferret. Every day that she’s with us is wonderful.
