I was at PetSmart today and I noticed next to the reptiles they have whole prey frozen Rats, Mice, and Pinkies I looked at the box and couldn’t find if they add anything..does anyone have experience with giving the PetSmart ones to their ferrets? I just don’t know if it’s safe to give.

Yes that is exactly how I got my girls to eating mice. Be prepared to lose a few--like them refusing to eat them and you having to throw them away. My Annabelle liked chasing cat toys, so I tied a mouse on a string and teased her with it. Once you get them to eat mice, I would order them in bulk---I use perfectprey.com/ Not a good pic, but here is my Abbey(DIP) curiously watching Annabelle tasting a mouse. Haha I did all kind of things to get my Phoebe to eat them like making a soupie in my Bullet with them. However, she got tired of that rather quickly then I had to cut them up and put salmon oil on it. This is when she would eat them with fur on it. I skinned them for her at first. I still gut them but give them whole. No salmon oil now. Most people do not gut them.

Thank you so much.. aw how cute are they. Honestly that’s a good idea about tying the mouse to the wand it made me laugh picturing that (: my girl loves her food and she was so easy to transition to raw so I’m hoping she’ll take to it fairly quickly but I’ll try different methods, again thank you.

Petsmart and other chains is where I get my frozen mice/rats (though I feed them as a treat, since I don't have the space for bulk orders). Rocky crunches up mice headfirst with gusto, although with the rats I learned I have to remove the intestines first, otherwise he does it for me and strings them all about the kitchen. But yes, they are safe. You may have to slice them open the first few times so your ferrets know there's meat inside.

Oh man sounds like he's decorating 😬 how many should I give in a week? I'll start small and give it to her as a mid day snack.

Our girls absolutely love mice and crunch them up very quickly after fighting over them.
They'll more than easily eat two adult mice each in one sitting.
Cheers

I haven't gotten any Petsmart mice but they should be safe and nothing added as they feed those to snakes and retiles. You would be better off finding a retile/snake store and get the feeder mice from them. You would probably get them a bit cheaper compared to petsmart.
