MoJo is so easy, for the most part. He pretty much eats everything!! (Tries to steal MY food, too, but doesn't get away with it! ) I'm definitely going to order some taurine supplements, just because I'm still having a hard time finding the hearts! I'm going to stop sometime this week to grab those chicken feet! (I keep imagining the cashiers face when I go to pay for them ) I'm going to place an order on HareToday sometime this week, order some mice and, I think, some rabbit meat! Maybe some type of whole prey bird! Still debating

Since he's doing so well, let's set up a menu, then What is he getting when, now?

Hi, im so sorry!!! His schedule varies, but he's been getting beef, chicken, and turkey. Im getting some venison from my brother next week. I also gotthe chicken feet, which he LOVED I also want to try some rabbit meat, and I'm debating the mice, but that won't be for about two weeks, after I get back from my brothers. Right now, his schedule follows this, loosely, and I generally switch up when he gets what: Monday: chicken breast Tuesday: turkey neck Wednesday: beef (meat w. Bone) Thursday: liver in the am, chicken wing in pm Friday: turkey breast Saturday: turkey neck Sunday: beef I also try to give him soupier with pumpkin in it as often as possible. I used to give him lamb, but he really didn't like it, and to be honest, I wasn't impressed with the quality of it. I think I'll grab one mouse tomorrow, should I grab a pinkie or a grown mouse?

Ok, we're going to have to tweak the menu. Beef bone generally won't be consumed, so that would be a muscle meat only. So, right now he is getting: 8 meals of muscle meat 5 meals consumable bone 1 organ meal What he needs is: 8-9 meals consumable bone 3-4 meals muscle meat(at least one of which needs to be heart) 1 meal organ meats. Even if chicken has to be the bulk of the bone, that's ok. Although most will not eat drumstick/thigh bones because they are too dense, you can still give wings/ribs/backbone/neck. As for the mice, you can try him with an adult, although he might have a problem with the fur at the start If he does, get him some pinkies, and chop them up into the regular meats, and just work up from their.

Hi! Checking in real quick, I'm away. I understand the menu change. Only question I have is about the fur of the mice...could he choke on it?

Nope! It's what they were made to eat And lack of fur is the reason we usually include something like pumpkin in a frankenprey diet!

Ohhh, okay...That's pretty cool! I didn't know that When I stop and really contemplate these little furballs' natural diet...they're just so much more amazing to me. Which brings me to my next topic...Ferret math is about to hit me! My cousin is going through a pretty hard time and can no longer keep his little girl, so knowing I had MoJo, asked me if I could take her. She's a sweetheart, I've had the chance to play and socialize with her quite a bit before he moved away. She's around 3 1/2 years, on a kibble diet. I'm not sure how she'll react to a raw/whole prey diet, so we'll have to wait and see! I should have her by the end of this week, early next week. And I know, PICTURES I promise I'll post a few of her. She's coming with a cage, so I'm going to keep their cages next to one another. My question is--how long should this be? I'm assuming it depends on how they react to one another/how quick they bond? I'd planned on ordering MoJo a Ferret Nation 142 within the next three weeks, so ideally I'd like for them to be cage mates. ALSO (I know, I'm just on a roll, sorry!! Last thing, I swear ) I'll be on every day or every other day, now that things have calmed down! I hope you and the fuzzies are doing well

With the new one, take her to the vet before introducing. I know she belonged to your cousing, but some can have ear mites without showing a lot of outward symptoms. AND those can transfer to every being in the household! Better safe than sorry After the vet check, start introducing them. Supervised only at first- and expect some fighting. They've got to establish dominance, which is going to look and sound absolutely horrible. But the more you interfere, the longer it will take. Once one believes they've "scared" the other off(you pulling one away), they are going to keep getting rougher and rougher to attain the same goal. Or- they might hit it off right away ;D That said- you are going to have a bit more trouble getting your new one on raw, since she'll be imprinted on kibble. Start with some small bits coated in kibble, see how she takes to it. If not- puree it and keep dabbing it on her nose so she has to lick it off. I'll leave it there for now, say "congrats", and wait to hear how it goes! ;D

Good idea! I'll definitely do that--I'm going to wait to make the appointment, as I probably won't be getting her until the beginning of next week. I'll keep you updated

Sounds good! In the meantime, shall we finalize Mojo's menu to make sure he's going to be getting what he should? We can always just pick up here with your new girl, or even start a new thread.

Okay, So I think if I'm figuring this right, with the adjustment to his menu earlier, he needs abour 14 meals per/week? 9 consumable bone, 4 muscle meats, 1 organ...so 14...if I'm going about this right So I'll show you the menu I have based off of that, and we can tweak if need be. Monday (muscle): AM: beef PM: beef Tuesday (bone-in): AM: chicken wing PM: chicken wing/ possibly drumstick Wednesday (whole prey): Mouse/mice (we haven't tried the whole prey yet...that's this wed ) Thursday (organ, bone-in): AM: chicken liver PM: turkey neck Friday (muscle): AM: chicken breast PM: maybe rabbit Saturday (bone-in): AM: chicken wing PM: chicken wing Sunday (bone-in): AM: turkey neck PM: chicken wing or turkey neck So that averages to 13 meals/week....am I getting this right?? That's what I've been following, revising a bit as I go. He has gotten chicken heart, but I had to pick it out of a package that is mostly gizzards (which he also gets) I'm ordering turkey hearts and some rabbit to try from Hare-today here in a few minutes. He'll get that figured in if it comes within the week, which im hoping it does. Depending on how well he takes to the mice, how many should he get? 1 to start, 2 later in the day if he eats it all?

Only real change I'd make there is moving the rabbit to a bone in day, since it does have consumable bone, and maybe putting the turkey hearts there. Otherwise, it looks good.
