so im thinking of making my own bedding for my ferret nation. do you guys have any idea's/patterns for hammocks and such. but i really want to know how you attach the pan/liners to the pan/shelf. if anyone could post a picture on how their bedding set works that would be awesome or just idea's in general. i believe I'll be going to the store to check fabrics and get at it on Saturday.

for the shelves you could always make it like a sleeve so the shelf just slides in and you can attach some velcro to the bottom so the end can be secured...

While a thread about bedding is up....I just picked up my new ferret today (we named him Goku, cause he has a weird bright yellow patch of hair the size of a half dollar in the middle of his head, lol) and he came with a cage and bedding, the gift of a craigslist find They were using cedar for the bedding, and I was wondering it that was ok. I normally would use something more absorbent, but if it's for free I would like to use the rest of it (it's a HUGE bag). and he does smell good because of it, lol. I just don't want to unintentionally harm him and my Bandit.

Cedar is one of the worst beddings you can use for any animal. That and pine are big no-nos. I would throw it all away immediately and wash out anything it touched. The oils in those beddings can cause major problems if used long enough.

No worries. It won't cause any damage if used for a short time. I don't know how long Goku was around it but it definitely won't hurt Bandit after such a short time. It's only long term exposure that starts to cause problems.

As for making the bedding/shelf covers, any way you can attach them will work. Mine have elastic on the back ends that slip over the bars at the back, and corner pockets at the front. I get them from Rose at LFFR bedding. I've also seen velcro attachments, where it's sewn on either side of all 4 corners, and attaching underneath.
