They are eating very decent amounts! Pop Quiz Time! 1.) Does freezing degrade Taurine?1.) The freezing process doesn't degrade Taurine, cooking and long exposure to oxygen will though Yes2.) How much food on average should a male and female ferret each consume per DAY?
2.) Most ferrets are good at self regulating when eating. While eating a raw diet, some ferrets may eat only once per day while others will snack throughout the day. It is a standard though to feed an AM meal and PM meal (or 2-3 meals per day), but leave unfinished food out for the ferrets to access for later if they become hungry (always have food available). I'm not 100% certain as to the ounces/day given, but do know males generally eat more than females, kits will eat more than adult ferrets, and depending upon the season, feeding amounts will vary as well. The average adult female eats 1-3 oz and the male about 2-5 oz a day3.) Why is cooking meat generally considered inadvisable?3.) Cooking is generally in-advisable because nutrients decrease during the cooking process YesYou're doing awesome with the transition and the quizzes! New week = New menu also please and :thankyou: How are we doing on getting some other protiens added? :evil4:

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days. We had a death in the family and wasn't feeling well yesterday. Thanks so much for the kuddos...SO PROUD OF OUR FUZZ BUTTS! You will see in feeding logs that I FINALLY have incorporated beef (arm roast) into all 3's feedings, we got our chicken necks in two days ago and they absolutely love them, veal is still on its way (the butcher ordered the wrong kind), and rabbit is starting to thaw out now for tomorrow (5/10).

Menu for week of 6/13/16
When feeding liver, both C and R are still transitioning to like it, so will be giving smaller portions in meals to hide
Also depending on how they all are doing (we've been having some hairball red flags here and there), I will be giving 1-2 egg yolks this week.
Monday AM - Chicken necks Monday PM - Rabbit/pork (R is still transitioning to like rabbit)
Tuesday AM - Rabbit ribs Tuesday PM - Chicken necks and rooster liver (will try to feed liver first)
Wednesday AM - Rabbit legs Wednesday PM - Chicken wings and chicken heart
Thursday AM - Chicken necks Thursday PM - Rooster liver and beef (arm roast)
Friday AM - Chicken wings Friday PM - Beef (arm roast) and 1/2 chicken heart
Saturday AM - Chicken necks Saturday PM - Pork (chops) and rooster liver
Sunday AM - Chicken wings Sunday PM - Pork (chops)
The manager at the butcher shop is on vacation until next week so we are waiting on him to possibly get pig brain. I wanted to ask you if pig brain was safe first off and was acceptable as another organ?
Still waiting on our veal and will be getting beef liver this week. All are finally eating the chicken hearts and beef (arm roast) and H will eat the liver by itself.
We weighed today instead of yesterday
R - 1.59 lbs C - 1.79 lbs H - 2.56 lbs

Weight Day 6/20
H - 2.62 lbs R - 1.69 lbs C - 1.83 lbs
Will post new menu for this week soon. It's been a busy Father's Day weekend.
Did have a question...Heisenberg was the only one who ate liver last week and we are trying so hard to coax the girls. Any tips?
So far I have given it to them in small chunks with egg yolk (they lick around it), I've scruffed and stuffed (they spit it out each time), I gave it to them as a first meal multiple times to ensure they were very hungry (they refused to eat it even after multiple times of placing them in the feeding cage and taking them back out, and I've also went back and made soupie (just with liver and protein). We have tried beef and chicken liver without any luck.

Make an organ nd heart soup. So instead of just feeding liver or kidney or heart, they get it all in at the same time. You can make a large batch of it and then split it up into the meals that you would normally be giving them the organ/heart meals.

I'm so sorry I haven't posted the menu...Its been such a busy week and not feeling great. Trying the organ/heart soup mixture tomorrow. They have been on a balanced beef (arm roast), chicken neck, and pork chop based diet so far this week. Liver (crossing my fingers) will become a reality in their diet tomorrow with your suggestion. I did try and hide it in their PM meal tonight of pork chop (stuffed the liver inside each chunk).
