my Monty has recently come back from the vet after getting castrated and a tooth pulled. he seems fine behaviour wise, a little more playful and obviously lethargic (would you like to do anything other than sleep after your bits removed?) but he's also shivering and snuffling, like he has a cold.
I'm just wondering if this is a reaction to surgery or if he has managed to pick up a cold as well. he also seems to be a bit more oily.

Anaesthetic possibly on both accounts. Keep a close eye on him making sure he's eating and his stools are relatively normal. Common issues after surgery are lethargy, poor appetite, sore throat, loose stools. I noticed that Odin suffered the shivering thing and the vet suggested that because they have such a difficult time regulating their body temps (especially during surgery) that any residual will cause the same affect but as the ferret is now concious that they will try and naturally raise their body temp. If it continues give the vet a call and ask her what might be the problem. If I have questions such as this I have no qualms about calling my vet to confirm or to arrange an appointment if necessary

he's not eating as much as usual, probably because of sore mouth. he is eating though and he is drinking plenty.

If he had tooth extracted, give him soft food (mush) for a week or so.

he's looking better. Acting normal and looking floofy (before he looked very slicked down) also chowing down on food quite happily
