We should make a petition or something to get the purevax out. I have done so much research on this distemper stuff but not a whole lot of answers. So i dont know what to do.

The manufacturer is supposedly working on it, but I can't keep track of their progress since different branches of their company seem to have differing information about where it is and isn't available. In theory, it's available again in some parts of the world.

I might email them then.

Issue is, a lot of vets felt burned by what happened previously(quality control and manufacturing issue) and are for all intents and purposes refusing to order it again.

Not a clue, and they aren't talking. I made a new post about the distemper vaccines just so people can read. Anyways have you heard of the vaccine Neo Vac D? Its another distemper only vaccine that i found and i just got off the phone with the company. I guess there are 4 small studies done on the vaccine and they had good results.

Is the link to the studies in that thread? No he told me it all over the phone. He just told me that his first study was done with 107 ferrets the vaccine was diluted 100 times. Out of the 107 ferrets he said none had adverse reactions. Then the other 3 they used i beleive non diluted vaccines so they could see how well it protected them. Well those 3 studies all together included 300 more ferrets and he said none had adverse reactions. He also told me that the protection the ferrets received were 200 antibodies per some unit and he told me that ferrets need like 7 antibodies to be minimully protected. He also told me that about 10 percent of ferrets needed the booster shot 2 to 3 weeks later to protrct them fully from distemper. He also said that after the studies were conducted the only phone call he got was from someone who vaccinated two 5 year old ferrets and they were litter mates and they both went into antiphletic shock and died. He said thats the only record of issues he has with ferrets and the Neo Vac D. I keep repeating my self but he also stated that about 20% of ferrets who get vaccinated will have an adverse reaction but of all 400 ferrets that were studied none had any reactions and i beleive they should be seeing about 80 to 100 with reactions and they did not.

It would have been great to see the actual study, as he must have written it up and submitted it. If you wind up speaking with him again, maybe he could give it to you

If you wind up speaking with him again, maybe he could give it to you I emailed him back so he can give me all thr details but i doubt he will give us actual data he said he couldnt do that. I also emailed him to see what it would take to make it ferret approved on his end as well so we will see.

It hasn't been published and/or peer reviewed yet then. Once it is then it will become available.

I wonder if that takes a lot of time or not.

It can, as the study will have to be replicated.
