I try to clean their ears at least once a week. Normally I do it twice. Still, Alice seems to have some of the dirtiest ears I've ever seen, and she is free roam in a clean room. I literally get this every time I clean hers. Yuck!

That's interesting that she produces so much wax, my ferrets have hardly any (and I've never cleaned their ears)! Could it be that, by cleaning out her ears so much, you're causing her body to overproduce earwax to compensate? I think I've heard of that in people, but not sure about ferrets. Does the earwax bother her? If not, I honestly would just let her ears be and see what happens.

Yeah, that black makes me think mites as well. Jaffa had tons of wax and only had mites once, whe several others did. Once we got rid of the mites the wax was brown and not black any longer.

That looks like mites to me as well. Take her in, have her checked, and every mammal in the house will need treatment.

you can buy revolution from petshed without a script.
They sell revolution and Stronghold. I hear it is the same stuff just one is packaged from UK and one from Australia.
I have the amounts to dose them per pound at home written on a card I got from my vet in California.
.05ml per drop
.16ml per KG of body weight
It was worked out to 2 drops per pound of body weight.
This is to treat Fleas, Flea eggs, Flea Larvae, ear mites, Sarcoptic mites, Hookworks, and roundworms. only exception is Heartworm. Heartworm requires a full .75ml dose per ferret.
This is the info my vet gave me. It worked great for my ferrets whenever I brought a ferret baby (with the free bag of mites) home from the pet store.
Only time I ever have a mite issue is when I introduce a new ferret to the group. Otherwise my home is mite free.

It is going to take 2 rounds---one to kill the mites now and in 2 weeks another dose for the eggs that have hatched. Evidently it doesn' t kill eggs. Anyway that is what i had to do.

Can you get them in sooner for treatment? Ear mites really are nothing to fool around with. It isn't "emergency" care, but definitely better sooner than later. Go on youtube and search ear mite videos.
