LOL, well, I did warn you that it was a lot of info. I'm aware that you already knew a lot of that, but it's just nice to have it all in a fairly condensed form for reference. Sometimes it's hard to find the exact information you need when you need it in a hurry, so maybe the mini-book will help. It also has almost all the answers to the final exam in there. Yes, I feed frog legs. They are a delicacy at my house, one of the few foods my crew will fight over. Some ferrets like them, some don't. Just keep sticking those chunks in. He'll learn eventually and it may be sudden. My other mentee has been having fits with her little girl. She didn't want anything except ground chicken. Her ferrent bought a bunch of meat last week and was prepping it while the ferret was watching. She offered the little girl a piece of everything she prepped and she ate it all. Just like that. Bones and all. You just never know with ferrets. Keep trying with the meat noodle. Long slender pieces are easier for them to figure out than round chunks. That poop picture doesn't look good, BUT it is what I expected. This week he's going to produce some really nasty stinky messy poops. I know this is not reassuring, but it will get worse before it gets better. Sorry. :/

So tonight for dinner we had an entree of chicken soupie for both boys. Jax's soupie was a little thinner while Gomez's was much thicker almost like a stew not a soup. Jax had 3 ounces which he ate entirely on his own from the plate which for his 6th raw meal we felt was a HUGE accomplishment. Gomez devours his chicken stew and he munchies through the chicken slivers and chunks that are added. He also ate both ends of a wingtip !!! Huge success. ...heard the bones crunching in his jaws! Super proud ferrants moment. ? Gomez has been steadily given larger slivers and chunks. I will work on a menu tomorrow to commence thursday. For the week. Is that ok??? Jax has been having some really loose poops. I should think a result of detox. And his introduction to soupie. Gomez has typical raw poops. Sometimes he does have mucousy poops when he gets egg. I will also begin a more descriptive means of journaling. The method employees previously was just a quick method while we had no official mentor. Our concern right now is Jax's low weight-- compared to Gomez;he is skin and bones. Outer coat is very rough...again I'm sure due to the crap food he has been fed! Hope I hit some of the high points. Will post photos of tomorrow nights meals and then poop shots to follow....lol Night Jami

Gomez' soup in that last picture looks very thick. It's definitely time to get rid of the soup for him. Use all chunks and if he just absolutely refuses to eat, then pour about a teaspoon of very thin soup over the chunks, like a gravy. Stop working on the wing tips for now. He won't do much with them until he learns how to chew. Let's get his chunk size up first and then we'll start on bone. Now, since we're taking his soup away, he won't have any organs, heart, or bonemeal. His menu can be out of balance for a little while until we get him eating all those things on their own, but keep an eye on his poops. If they get too loose, we can compensate by sprinkling a little bit of bonemeal on his chunks. The boys look very similar in these pictures. Do they in real life also? I can't wait to see pictures and hear stories of them bouncing around together, terrorizing the house! You're going to love the interaction between them (if they get along). Two is twice the fun! That's why I have 4!

Jax's 3 ounces...was he full? You don't want to limit him. He's been basically starved and he needs as much as he wants. You can actually leave some in the cage for him all the time since he's eating from the plate now. Funky poops were addressed above. Weight will come. It will take a little time. His coat will also improve pretty quickly. Forget what I said about Gomez and the wingtip. If he ate it, that's fantastic! BUT, it also means he's learned to chew, so let's get him off the soup and onto solid food. Please don't think I was criticizing your journaling. I wasn't. In fact, I wish EVERY new switch would be so thorough. I just need you to do a little more now. Both boys are doing great! Give them smooches from me.

So I worry about him doing so good for weeks on raw soupie and now switch him up and take it away and he will not be balanced......I know it will work out. So you know we have the NOW brand bone meal and we rinse our egg shells and then grind to a fine consistency. We have pics on the other thread of bone meal egg shells. Nite and glad your Internet is back.

Oh, those knee pads... My little girl has teeny tiny knee pads... Well, just a few white hairs actually and I love love love them. Jax's are just awesome. <rapturous sigh>
It is scary to change things up, especially when everything is going great, but soup is not meant to be long term. He needs the mental stimulation of solid foods and he needs the whole bones for his teeth. Actually, if you want to know the truth, the balance was thrown off the day you started adding slivers to the soup. But he's doing really well and I don't think it will be long before he's on full frankenprey. And we have some leeway with balance before deficiencies appear, so as long as he doesn't seriously stall, you don't need to worry.
Either the bone meal or the eggshell is fine. I tend to use those terms interchangeably so just use whichever.
Tomorrow is going to be hectic for me. We have a thanksgiving program at my school tomorrow night and I'm going to busy most of the day rehearsing kids and getting things set up. I'll try to check in a couple of times, but no guarantees. If you have an emergency and I don't respond in time, send me a pm on FB or message one of the other mentors.

We just got home and Gomez has thrown up numerous times, 4 different places. Jami smelled it and smells like bile. Very running liquid diarrhea will send pics to forum. But you I know have your program tonight. He had very little soupie and long strip of meat this morning. He is not lethargic just super concerned. Wonder if he swallowed the meat and didn't chew. He is playing in water right now. Today, his diet was changed up red meat strip and little soupie. Just needing some advice. Jax the new one seems fine and they were not together. @sherry Heather @jason
