I think it could be memory loss. when Ellie did this she has been with us for months. The all of a sudden she started with this behavior. That is why I was thinking Dementia or loss of memory, This could also be caused by a stroke. I believe this is what took Ellie from us in the end

I hate it when our babies start slipping away. Give lots of comfort from abbey the ferret.

Prissy has never liked any other ferrets. She has toys and bedding but ignores the toys. We don't have a vet yet.

TBH her behaviour reminds me of dementia patients I have worked with when they find themselves in a new place(nursing home). Try some Bach's rescue remedy for her, along with confining her to a smaller space should help lower her extreme anxiety.

I havent been thru all the replies so appoligies if im repeating anything. when i saw this video the other day it reminded me of my bandit. He got what was suspected vistibular disease which can have them going round in circles, its apparently seen in dogs more. But he got a steroid injection and it eased it, they also think there has been some kind of damage done to his brain or maybe a stroke. But he goes round and round like that after hes been out playing a while. i have a blind ferret and moved house umpteen times and my blind ferret has never behaved like that. They r very good at mental mapping. this video prompted me to rejoin the forum as its so like the behaviour my bandit displays.

Did some research and an ear swab and it looks like Prissy's major issue is ear mites. She did not like last night's treatment but tonight she seems to be much more relaxed. Poor gal must be exhausted. Gawd. It's probably been a couple months since they were treated, and no one else has any signs. I feel like crap. But with moving and all. the spa day routine has suffered. Someone smack me. She's not doing that well. Her time could be soon, but hopefully she'll be more comfy. She's drinking a lot, but her poops are good.

For some reason I find that mites tend to be attracted to certain ferrets. Some of mine have never had an issue and some always seem to be on the menu for mites.

Awwww, poor prissy At least you found out what could be 'bugging' her. I never had a ferret with ear mites, but some ferrets, like Alice, seem to always have very dirty ears. No sign of mites but just always full of wax.

Unclejoe, you think the ear mite treatment will stop the rambling behavior?
That is such a sweet picture, she looks so contented.
Lyles, I might would get Alice's ears checked. My baby had them, and her ears looked real good----of course, I am sure, they would have eventually started looking cruddy. It was her second vet visit when discovered. I do not know why vet did not find them first time. I would think eggs could be seen under microscope.
Babies are bad to have ear mites from what I hear.

Jaffa's ears were always full of gunk, but I don't remember him ever having mites. Back then we treated monthly. We're just off schedule since the move. First confirmed case I dealt with was Rocky. I only noticed it when I saw scabs on his ears from scratching. He also had a yeast infection in one ear. That made me feel horrible too You'd think I'd learn...
Prissy is now spending a lot of time resting, instead of pacing. She has lost a lot of muscle mass. I don't feel any tumors. I may give her a sub-q later... I wish there was a way to measure her fluid I/O. She's still eating and drinking on her own, tho, and poop and pee look ok.

Prissy is actually doing better. Sh eis able to move around and of course poop anywhere but on the papers which cover almost the whole floor in her room. She's also strong enough to fight her medicine, so we'll see.

It's so hard to see one of our fuzzies struggling. Hugs to Prissy and I hope she stays strong and you have plenty of time with her.
