We traveled over the holidays so it's been muscles and organ soup for the last few days. Running low so need to get more foods for them. I will be getting them officially on Frankenprey with my next check.

So, have good news!! I had complete success with Poco eating a turkey neck last night, unsmashed!
The little bugger just wanted to be held while he went to town on it. Lol, I guess I've been a bad mommy lately, but last night was the first time I've actually held him long enough for him to get frantic. He started out trying to just eat the meat and every time I let him down he would try and stash it and then walk away, so I picked him up again and he went to town again. Just went crazy for it. Then next thing I know, he wasn't getting big enough bits and bam.. he tried to bite the thing in two. Woke up this morning and even though there is chicken thigh in the cage with them, it was the turkey neck he was going to town on.
I'm such a happy ferrent this afternoon! Shinchi, of course has been eating the whole thing for awhile. Now I just have to get them on to chicken wings. Still don't get paid until this friday so they have to make due with what I have in my freezer. Plenty of heart (chicken and pork), liver, turkey necks and chicken thigh as well as two small chickens, not sure if they are cornish game hens or not will have to check on that.
Things are really tight since my husband left and my rent has to come out of this check. Luckily thats about all that has to come out of it. Maybe a bill or two but nothing major. So I need some ideas on how to conserve freezer space so that I can set up their food. I have a very very tiny freezer and have to store my own stuff in it as well. Was going to get a small deep freezer but now I can't exactly afford it.
The good thing though is that I have more than a $40/month budget for my babies now that I'm free to use my money as I please. Anyway, running late for work so I have to run. Hope I can be more active here and hopefully I will get a video of poco going to town sometime before the end of the weekend.

That's wonderful news. Hooray for Poco. It sounds like the little one has turned the corner and should move along nicely now.
If your freezer space is limited, you will want to preportion meals into baggies then roll them up into tight small bundles. Then all you have to do is pull out breakfast or dinner and let it defrost.
Sveta has done a lovely job with your transition and I apologize for my unexpected leave of absence. :wave3:

Those are some tough bones they are eating (dance)
If they can eat those then the next step is just incorporating more of a variety in their diet. You'll get to that when the budget permits.

My little monkeys are something else. They didn't touch their food from this morning until I got home, pulled it out of their litter box, washed it and represented it to them.

That's so cute though. They're playing you a bit for the attention. Don't let it worry you, they will eat if they need to.

Do you think you could post a menu for this week? Just the sort of meats they are eating, so we can check that it's balanced ex. MON - am: chicken wings pm: 3/4 turkey liver, 1/4 pork pancreas TUES - etc... On a frankenprey diet of 14 meals per week, we should feed ferrets: 1 meal of heart 1 meal of 1/2 heart, 1/4 liver, 1/4 organ 1 meal of 3/4 liver, 1/4 organ 2-3 meals of muscle meat - red meat, gizzards, fish etc 8-9 meaty bones meals

That looks pretty great You've got the heart meal, organs, muscle and bones (dance) You have more than 3 proteins in there, which is also great. You may want to add some more variety in the meaty bones category eventually, when you can. I'm going to send the menu off to the other mentors to see if they have anything to comment on it, after @poncesmom gives her OK. It looks like there won't be much to fix though.

Ah yes, I was looking for other things for the bones but they didn't have anything other than turkey wings and those are huge. I am on the look out for rabbit and duck and maybe some chicken back. This time a year though the duck is pretty much depleted over the holidays so I have to wait a couple of months for that.

Also my local store sells beef intestines. Could that be considered a muscle meat or would it be an organ? Never tried to boys on it but I'm willing to try if it is beneficial to them.
