I didn't get a chance to get out to the store the other day. So they got they're regular meal. This weekend I'm going to go out and get some turkey wings instead of the turkey thigh meat. I'm also going to be ordering some rabbit and quail/pheasant online this weekend for some extra variety. Also I'm going to be looking to get some frog legs too and give those a try. I also got some pictures of the furries that I will be posting later tonight. Gel and Dandy turned out pretty good, Honey was hard to get a good picture of because she was so excited to be out and running around at the time. Perhaps I can get a better one of her tonight.

I shall, I'm assuming if I order this weekend, I should receive my rabbit and quail by mid next weekend. the turkey wings I'm going to pick up Saturday, I might shift their schedule so I can see how they take to them earlier and get back to you sooner.

You kind of figure out what works best for your schedule and theirs. I found a good basic document for you to read through. It has some info you know and some you might not know. It might be good for a few quizz questions. :heehee: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/11604

I'm doing great, I tried the ferrets with some Turkey wings the other day and seemed to enjoy them much much more than than the thigh. I'm planning on ordering them some different meats this week online (From some of the sites you suggested ) now that I go paid. So many choices... definitely gonna get some rabbit and quail though off HareToday. I got some pictures as well (To the best of my ability. I still haven't mastered the art of ferret photo taking.) Some are a little blurry so I'm sorry, I tried to get them when they were just waking up... only Dandy worked. Tried to get some other body shots of them and these were the best I could do so far haha. Danglers Gel is the only one that likes baths... he got poop all over him. Shoe fettish This picture looks like I'm killing him, but he's just yawning. I'll keep trying to get some more as they progress as well.

Good Morning (dance) Those are fun pictures. Everyone looks nice and healthy. There is no art of ferretography (giggle) You simply take alot of pictures and hope for some good one. The minute you catch them in a cute pose or doing something silly and then you grab your camera, snap and they have moved. They just love to pull our chain. This is pretty obvious to someone smart like you but try to order things that are hard to find in the stores, like goat or rabbit. Variety is important and it's fun to try new exotic things. Especially with yours who eat so well. It wouldn't be a new week without a pop quizz. That thread that I linked should provide some good questions, ready? 1. Your friends ask the inevitable question about Salmonella. Why is that not a worry for ferrets? 2. What bones should not be fed? 3. What disease do we hope to avoid through a raw diet? 4. What organ designed to process fruits and veggies/carbs and starches is missing in a Ferret? 5. What animal protein has the most common allergy/intolerance reported in ferrets? 6. When do you need to brush your ferret's teeth? 7. What is the scientific name for a Ferret? Is this a part of the Rodent family? 8. How long can you leave out raw food for? Muscle meats? Bone In meats? Whole Prey? Organ soup? 9. What is IBD? 10. What signs would you look for if you suspect your ferret has IBD? Well, maybe not all the questions come from the document? You're doing really really great with them. Tell them I'm proud of all of you. :wave3:

For taking photos of them from the top, put a dish with some oil (whichever they like) on the floor and then snap the pictures

Ordered some frozen meats off of HareToday. How do necks do with ferrets? They have a lot for a very reasonable price. I'm also stopping at the Asian market today, so we'll see what I can pick up.
On a side note, someone called the landlord of my apartment this week about my cage scaring them. Apparently there's a clause in the lease agreement that doesn't allow snakes, large birds, or "exotic" animals... ferrets fall in this category and technically I'm not allowed to keep them. Luckily for me, my landlord likes me and she has 8 cats and 4 dogs and birds. So she asked me to move the cage and pretend the conversation never happened. I really didn't feel like losing my babies, I am so relieved haha.

You're fine. We know you are doing well. My husband was in computers. It can be a hectic time in any company trying to launch a new product.
Thank goodness for an understanding landlord. I'd hate to think that you had to move and break a lease or something worse like losing your babies.
Necks can be tough for new to Bone Ferrets but wait and see. Yours are doing so well. You might need to smash them some. Turkey necks can be really tough. What kind did you order?
Let's look at your menu:
Monday AM: Duck wings Monday PM: Beef Tips and Egg yolks
Tuesday AM: Chicken Wings Tuesday PM: Organ Day ( Chicken Liver and Pork Kidneys)
Wednesday AM: Chicken Wings Wednesday PM: Chicken Wings
Thursday AM: Cornish Game Hen (Changing to rabbit next week) Thursday PM: Turkey Wings tips (New)
Friday AM: Cornish Game Hen (Changing to quail next week) Friday PM: Beef/Pork Heart
Saturday AM: Chicken Wings Saturday PM 1/2 Beef Heart, 1/4 Chicken Liver, 1/4 Pork Kidneys
Sunday AM: Chicken Wings Sunday PM: Turkey Gizzards
I count; 9 Bone In meats
3 Muscle meats including a Red meat meal, a Heart meal and Gizzards. Hooray! You have two beef hearts in one week. Why don't you try a pork muscle meat meal instead. Heart is fine and water soluable but you want Heart to be ten percent of what they eat. Two full heart meals and one half meal of heart for the organ meal allows you to lose one extra heart meal and get some pork in the menu. Pork Kidneys are an organ meal and Heather who approves the menus for graduation, may not count that as a protein.
2 organ meals and one includes a half portion of Heart.
You have chicken/duck/beef/turkey/Cornish game hen/ Pork kidney/ and an egg. Very Very nice!
You have a nice variety of proteins. Once you have the rabbit and find the quail, you can lose a chicken meal or two. Quail comes in a six pack and is usually hidden in a freezer section.
Well done. How are they doing with the Bones? Are you happy with how everyone is eating?

I haven't ordered any necks yet, because I was unsure of how they would do with necks of any kind. There bone in meals they're doing well with. They still leave sections of the drumstick bones though. Usually they chew the ends off of the drumsticks, then eat all of the wing and tip section. I look to adding some pork into their meal plan. Any suggestions on a cut of pork meat, and which one exactly to cut?

The top part of the drumstick is tough for just about every ferret. Look for Butt Roasts or they are sometimes called Picnic Roasts. The lower part of the pig is the fattiest. Fatty pork chops can be a good choice but the bone will be too tough. Plus it adds to the weight and that adds to the cost. I will buy them when I find them and can't find a Roast. A good Butt Roast (okay, some good Butt jokes.. will give you alot of meals once you prep it into serving sizes. That's why they call it living off the High Hog. It use to be that those cuts were for people who could afford the leaner whiter part of the Pig.
