I'm so glad to hear he is making progress and did well at the vet office. Hooray for a good Heart reading and a clear fecal sample Heather has mentioned that it is easier to take blood from the tail then the footsies. I know that taking blood from humans (like my Paul) can be easier if they drink water first. I wonder if that helps with ferrets? And what is Susan's picklejuice? (giggle) The pictures are just too cute. Mako is such a Love! Her picklejuice is a blend of oils for ferrets and it's like ferret crack! They LOVE it!

Thanks for updating us and again, Thank you for giving Mako a new happy healthy place to thrive. I adore him too, never had a bond like this with one of my ferrets. The extra care that goes into him is definitely why I have that bond, he does too. He snuggles on me when I hold him and syringe feeding him, he sits there like a little kid waiting for his food. ❤ He is definitely very special to me and he knows he's finally got a forever home. ❤ I love all my little ones, but Mako has taken quite a large chunk of my heart.

Mako has found his forever home. (dance) I hoped you would say that but didn't want to ask. From the way you talk about him, I knew he was special and I'm just so glad he is now yours forever. Mako is your heart ferret. I understand exactly what you mean when you say you love all your little ones but Mako holds a large chunk of your heart. I believe we can have more than one heart ferret but mine was Ponce and he will always hold the most special place in my heart.

It's been quite some time since I updated everyone on Mako. Well....... I have loads of good news!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ He's up to 2lbs 12oz on his weight, close to 3lbs!!!!! His glucose levels have been in the high 80s, 88. My human meter was giving off the wall readings, so I broke down and got the alphatrak2 for $48, I got lucky there! Anyway, he's down to .15ccs of pred every other day and weaning off slowly (happy dance), his stools are normal again with the help of some gi blend soup, small bits of pumpkin, and tiny amounts of imodium. The source of his diarrhea is his heart meds, found that out after trial and error, and Mako's fur is so fluffy and soft now. It felt terrible when I got him. My boy is doing fantastic in his forever home and he's also being put on the ferret giving tree the rescue is on this year! ❤ Helps cover his medication and vet bills since he's a foster. Now for the fun part, update photos!!!! @poncesmom FireAngel Heather Sherry Desiree @julesalot unclejoe

I've got some unfortunate news, Mako's not doing good. He had a crash last night and I fear his heart is going to give out soon. I'm staying up all night to make him comfortable if he does pass. I hope he holds on until the vet in the morning, they know were coming. I got emergency lasix sent to my pharmacy today for him. I hope he pulls through.

Mako didn't make it. He passed at 4:45am. My sweet boy is gone. I gave him the best love I could have given in the time I had him, he was so very special to me. Every morning I would greet him with a Good morning sweetie and tell him I love him. I'd tell him I loved him all throughout the day. I'd give him lots of kisses, especially after his soupie. He really enjoyed his soupie feedings with me, such a bonding experience. I'm crying as I write this, this boy took a special place in my heart and he took a large chunk of it when he left for the rainbow bridge tonight. I know he's no longer in pain and is probably with his old cage mate and my Chiquita now happy as can be.
Dook In Piece sweet boy, momma will always love you. ❤
