So I ended up taking them to petco. The lady who deals with them has three ferrets herself. They go to the vet tomorrow. They are going to a great hospital called mill hopper. They will update me after the appointment. And we will probably get them back in a week. Less for the girl if she is not sick. They will contact us with what's wrong and treatment that will happen. After the hospital visit they will be in the wellness room til their treatment ends. Good luck, the petco here doesn't even have a vet contracted (crazy, right?). Instead they will just take back the ferret for an exchange. The closest good vet that does ferrets is in Houston, which is about an hour away. I don't mind the drive though because she is really good.

I will let you all know what happens. I don't know anyone else who has gone through this process, so I will be able to inform others how the process works. Maybe my experience will help someone else in the same situation to help make a better decision. I will be getting an update tomorrow after their visit to the vet. I just want my babies back. I hope all goes well.

So I called the manager again this morning. Their appointment is at 2:30 pm. I asked if Brian and I could join them at their appointment. She said I dont think so, but she called corporate. Corporate told her that it is up to the vet. So the manager called the vet and he said it was okay! So we are going to their appointment with them this afternoon!

So the appointment went well. They got weighed and their temperatures were taken. They didn't have any fevers or anything. He gave the sneezy boy clamoxicillian. It will be given for seven days. The girl will not be treated unless she develops a cough. But she will stay at petco til Meelo is done just in case she does get sick. They will be in separate isolations. We can visit them at petco while they are there. We should have them back in a week or less!

I am in the states. I live in Gainesville Florida. I think it really depends on the petco management. But you can always call corporate if they aren't doing something correctly and try to get them to fix it. Plus I have been a little demanding. I had to basically demand that the manager call corporate to find out for sure what the policy is for us to go to the appointment with them. just want the best for them. I bet the management are starting to dislike me lol. Brian keeps saying I'm going to be such an over protective mother. Our little one is due in October.

I hope the antibiotics clear it up. The Petco in Port Orange (near DAytona) has a decent manager, at least. When we adopted Pandora, along with Yoshi and Abita, he was so happy to see her go after 7 months that he offered us $30 in merchandise credit to go with her. He said he couldn't discount ferrets, but he wanted to do something for us.
