Went to express him earlier and he didn't need doing!!! So pleased with him. And he seemed pleased with himself. Just worried that he might have licked most of it up...
I've got some of that bandage stuff, I was worried about him chewing it, but I'll try it tomorrow and supervise closely.

Be careful with it. It is my concern if he would ingest it and it would be a blockage but it might allow him to move around more without hurting himself. Maybe only use it when you're right there ciao

Could you attach the sock to a harness to make it harder for him to remove it?

Bev he seems to quite like pink... in fact his harness is pink. It was supposed to be Korra's but it's far too big for her and he suits it much better than Bolin would. Bolin got what should have been Mako's and the one I got for Bolin is too big too, especially since he's had his spleen out. Don't worry there will be lots of pictures once I've got him settled in his wheels, well if he will stay still long enough! ha I will have to nip to poundland, wont be this weekend though as we have the ferret show! So excited.
I did put his harness on over the sock and it does help it stay on longer. The stretchy wrist stuff is easier to fold over the harness but still eventually slides off. I can't think of a way to make the harness attach without sewing the sock around it. Would make washing it difficult without having lots of harnesses. Some days he is constantly leaking and I can't quite get him to empty by expressing along.
He did need squeezing this morning, he was quite full but not like he has been after a full night.

What if you used a safety pin or two to hold the sock in place...rather than sewing it? he would be a bit dated but he could a punk fert ciao

Can you not make slits in the sock and slip the harness straps through them?

Punk ferret! Would suit him. Might have to find a sock with skulls on! I was worried that a safety pin might come undone and stab him... Maybe I'm over thinking it.
The slits sound like a good idea. I could sew like button holes and thread the harness through. Now I just need to learn to sew button holes on my machine, I know it can, it's just can I? haha

If I can you can Just follow the directions for your machine. I found it was quite simple actually. I will be honest though I totally flubbed the first one so you may want to do a couple of practice button holes first. Use baby safety pins...they have a locking mechanism on the top to prevent the safety pin from accidentally opening and skewering skin babies. ciao

Button holes were what I had in mind, but I didn't know if you sewed or not. Button holes are easy, but sewing on a sock is tricky. I would suggest that you use some kind of facing material with the sock to make it easier to sew. You can trim the facing off once the button hole is sewn.

What about a sock with 4 little leg openings? Or are you doing that already and it isn't working? I'm so looking forward to seeing him on wheels!

I've not had chance to get the sewing machine out yet. Hopefully it will be simple enough. Otherwise just threading the sock on the harness will do for now. It's not the easiest thing getting the sock on him then trying to thread the hardness through, he's having far too much salmon oil which is making his stools loose and since he has no control they end up trailed along the floor :pullhair: I've got some carnivore care (should have been here today) one the way. Hoping I can use that instead of the salmon oil.
I'm trying to stretch and bend his legs in the hope of preventing any more muscle loss but it doesn't seem to be working, his back end feels horrible, it's just all bone and skin. He doesn't move his legs at all anymore. My OH has said that 'working' his legs won't be much as there isn't any resistance, they're just floppy. Any idea if this is true. I feel like it's not doing any harm and he doesn't mind so I'm still doing it at least twice a day for 5 to 10 minutes at a time.

Wow! Great idea. I'll have a look and get one ordered. Thanks
Had a look, never had a foot spa before, am I just looking for one that does bubbles? Or a more expensive one with 'jets'?

Unfortunately Mako seems to need help with emptying his bladder again. Problem is I've been trying a few times today and at the most I get a few drops. No where near enough. My OH and I have tried for a while, and I've given him a warm water (only) bath as he was dirty and that helped with emptying his bowels but not his bladder. His penis is swollen again. I think we've got enough out of his for the night, although I'll get up and check on him, but I'm going to take him to the vets again tomorrow if I still can't express it enough. Heather, not sure which sort of foot spa to get him. Any idea which sort would be best? Never mind, bought one Should be here Wednesday
