So Herman was on his back a little while we were playing and I got a look at his belly, it looked really red so i became more concerned ( as he left it alone and it had been near scabbed again yesterday night.)
While I was trying to gently get him to let me pick him up ( he was happily going into the tunnles to excape me) he left a blood smugge on there pop yup play pen. This made me more worried.
Once I got him to let me hold him ( like a baby on his back, he normally is more comfortable like that oddly) It looks like he chewed off all the healed scab!! Its very red and really doesnt look good! ( It looks like he pealed off all the skin on the tumor and you can see the weird insides of the tumor...)
I ordered Sudocrem BUT THE SHIPPING MY GOD!! Its not coming untill Jun 24 - Wed, Jul 8!! x-x I dont know what store to buy that kinda thing in either ( Any ideas were to look?) I also ordered Rescue Remedy thats coming monday
I am worried to try to touch his booboo ( i really try to avoid touching it when picking him up) and I been cleaning his cage with vinegar every day because I dont want him infected ;n;
I am going to the vet tomorrow with my dog and I would take Herman too but I dont know if out ferret vet will be there tomorrow. He does have surgery on june 3rd for those who dont know. Should I wait it out? I am likely going to call them the next day if the vet isnt in tomorrow.

If your dog had these tumors your vet would know what to do as far as ointments to put on him, so surely he could give u some suggestions for your ferret while you wait for surgery. I would take ferret to ur dog vet if your other vet isn't in.
just my opinion

Oh Herman. Sudocrem is hard to find in the states. Desitin is similar but has cod liver oil in it. They seem to like that taste. That's why everyone says use Sudocrem. If you wrap it up, he's going to chew on the bandage. I would take him with you tomorrow to the vet. I would think the vet office would have an idea to help Herman, regardless of what type of animal that he is. That's not just a ferret issue. Any chance that you can fashion a cone of shame that will hold until tomorrow. Something he can't eat his way through? The good news is he will probably go to bed soon and sleep through most of the night. I could only find one thread that talks about this and the animal was a dog. I looked at some vet sites and they all say that a ferret won't tolerate wrapping the wound and will try to eat thru it. Then you've got a blockage issue. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/5157Give the little fellow a gentle hug. He's been through so much.

yes Poncesmom is right about wrappings, because one of the ferrents on forum had a ferret who passed away from blockage due to eating the wrapping on a suture. (I believe I am stating this correctly )

I don't know if this will help but just in case. Some years back Rocket had a wound on his neck which got infected (long story). Anyway, the vet gave me some stuff to clean it with, so that it could heal. I had to put it on a couple of times a day and he hated it but the wound id eventually heal. So I will give you details of it so that maybe your vet (even though they don''t know about ferrets may be able to give you some to keep Hermans growths clean til his surgery because I believe it is used for all kinds of animals and it definitely was fine on my ferret.
On the bottle it says Ilium Oticlean, skin and ear cleansing solution. Active constituents, each 100ml contains: propylene glycol 40ml; malic acid 2.25g; benzoic acid 0.15g; and salycylic acid 0.037g.
Another thought is hydrogen peroxide but I have no experience with it's use, just remember someone (maybe Bev, crazylady) suggesting it to someone else whose ferret had a wound.
Hope you can find some answers for Herman and keep him well til surgery.

Thanks! ill be sure to ask my vet to see if they have any or something else to help him. I think i would be scared to use hydrogen peroxide because it stings? ( at least it stings for my cuts! haha) and i dont want herman to get upset with me because we are still becoming buddies!
I hope he stays healthy! We are so close to june 3rd!!

My dog had a wound and they would not let me use hydrogen peroxide. I am going to start asking why, so that i can be more informed.

Have a vague idea of someone making a cone of shame for a ferret some years back, think it was with a cleaned out yoghurt container, best guess it was unclejoe

The only problem with a cone of shame i see is that the wound is on his belly and I think if the cone was to big he couldnt walk right but to small and he can still get at it x-x ugh so hard...
I dont eat yogurt! darn! Haha ill keep trying ;-;
The only good news so far is that i have all the things to start frankenprey diet with my boys. ;u; took a little while to find hearts but i got them haha.
Going to the vet in a hour, hopefully i can get herman some help...

The reason for not using hydrogen peroxide is that it will sting/ hurt the animal. Benedine is much better.

The prototype was made with a harness and a manila folder. I then tried a plastic ice cream tub, but it was kind of heavy so i switched to a 1 qt yogurt tub. I cut out the bottom and laid it flat, then googled how to make a cone out of paper. Then I cut the point back to fit the harness, leaving about 1/2 inch extra, which i cut and bent into tabs to attach to the harness. Make sure the front of the harness is properly adjusted because you won't be able to change it once it's all taped up. For the end product, I cut the bottom back so Poor old Booboo could get his head in the food bowl.

Another bit of experience:
Booboo had one growth behind his ear. Within 3 weeks of having it removed, he sprouted 4 more in various places, and started declining. Within 9 weeks he was gone. We suspect the vet didn't get all of the tumor and it spread throughout his body. If Herman's tumors have stalks, being like a blob raised above the skin, ask the vet if they could be tied off rather than cut out. I had a skin tag that was on a stalk and I tied it off with dental floss and it dropped off in about a week without leaving a scar. Gross, but effective. If they are surgically removed, ask about biopsies. Good luck.
