Watson was diagnosed with what we and the vet believes is Adrenal, so he has been put on a combination of medicine and has his des implant now as of about a month ago. When he got the implant he got a lupron booster to hopefully help keep the itching in check but for some reason this round doesn't seem to be helping as much. He is still scratching a lot and chewing on his leg.
Of our three, he is the only one who is now rejecting his squash, and we even tested raw egg. Moriarty and Sherlock both took to the egg without issue but Watson won't even try it so he isn't getting anything to help with the fur he is probably ingesting with all his scratching and chewing.
I wanted to check with you all for any personal recommendations to either help ease his itching any more and any other ideas that would be OK to try for helping him take his egg, or even a bit of squash to help him pass whatever he may be holding in his system. He still potties like expected so no blockages, but I'm starting to get a little more concerned.
He sleeps a lot more than the other two, but I'm not sure how much of that is from his medication.

Do not use squash or pumpkin as a regular hair movement. If he won't eat the egg...draw it up in a syringe and give it to him like he would medicine. What I found strangely enough is that after a few times of eating egg like this, they're often licking it off the end of the syringe within a couple of tries. They've just got to try it to like it. I use melatonin (ferretonin implant) to help with the itchies. It seems to work very well when used with both the DES and the Lupron. I found Atreyu took almost 2 months before his activity levels moved up ciao

We backed off squash a bit ago when I was catching up on the forums again. I used to be on daily from work, but proboard stuff is now totally blocked so I'm not as good with staying up to speed daily.
I'll try the syringe method on him to see if his taste for it improves. I'll ask the vet about melatonin doses. We have soft gels for my wife and I to use occasionally. Maybe we can use those in a water dilution.

You can also use tablet form. I never had any problem getting them to take it. The pills don't have the nasty pill taste like most drugs.

It often takes a while before any results are seen. I would give it a couple months for the hair growth, and do reishi mushroom for the adrenal itchies. 1/4 capsule daily per ferret(will not hurt those without) on a two week on, one week off pulse therapy

It took nearly a full 3months to start seeing hair regrowth on Rolo after he had lost his fur. We did Lupron for three months, and the 3rd month it was an increased dose. Then he got a DES implant and he's been fine since. He will probably be itchy until his fur regrows & settles.

I found this thread, I hope something discussed will help. Sherry discusses using Reishi Mushrooms. I know very little about them. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/10657/itchy-ferret?page=3I've also seen it recommended that a bath with Colloidal Oatmeal (no soap) recommended as a soothing relief. It will not strip natural oils. Poor little Watson, it's no fun to be all itchy.

That is why I mentioned reishi earlier in this post

After des and melatonin implants he never regrew any fur. I'm tempted to try the oral melatonin on him as there is usually someone home mid day now.
