I am syringing about 60 CC of soup per feeding. Is this too much at one time.
I am trying to do this 3 times a day. The vet wanted us to do a BG test last time we talked. We tested him and it was 80. I want to test him again now that we are feeding him ad we know he is eating.
He is still sleeping in our room. My hope that once he is no longer in pain he will stop the biting and pulling on the cage bars.

Is he alone? Could he be cage raging because he misses the others?

right now he is alone, and free roam with no access to the cage. When he cage rages it is when I put him back with everyone in the ferret room with open access to the cage.

He may need his pain meds increased for a while. That is an awfully low dose.

Our vet did not want to even give him pain meds, the other half insisted.
We will call the vet on Tuesday. we will send her the pictures and see what she has to say. perhaps a different pain med that is not so expensive.

No pain meds at all? Why not? That seems cruel.

60 cc sounds like a lot. It translates into a bit over 1/4 cup, but I'm looking at a 25cc syringe used for sub q fluid and the only ferret here that would even think of eating 2 of those is Pandy. How much of that is liquid? what consistency is it? Sub q Ringer's for severe dehydration is only 25cc 2-3x a day. How does he take it? When we've had to syringe feed sick ferrets, we were lucky to get them to take 5-10 cc, so we fed them every couple hours. It doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with his appetite if he eats all that. I see a lot of ferts eat 2-3 oz of raw per meal, but I assume that's weight, not volume...?

It is thinned down enough to syringe it. kind of like a cream sauce consistency. it is whole pureed game hen (including the bone) with heart, liver and brain. Then thinned with water to that consistency. I am using a 50 cc syringe and fulling it completely so I estimating it is 60 - 65cc. here is the syringe I am using

No pain meds at all? Why not? That seems cruel. I know each time I had a root canal they always sent me home with pain med script. I never needed it. I have always been in so much pain prior to the root canal that after it was done was a relief in comparison. I never gave it a thought that they did not prescribe koufos any, but the other half did, she insisted, she said just in case. She also is the one who asked for the pain meds prior to the root canal, That I understood.
