It won't be. Chorionic gonadotropin is produced by the placenta. No placenta, no hormone.

It's also unlikely that a pregnancy test for human females will work with ferrets. The antibodies in the stick are species specific I believe. I should read the package insert next time I'm at work.

UPDATE: So the hemoleucogram results came today, and they showed some anemia (but not life threatening), severe infection and inflamation. So it was quite clearly pyometra, so I decided to open her to see what i find. And guess what ...it was indeed pyometra, even if she didn't had all the normal signs (no polydipsia, no polyfagia, no apatia, no fever ) just vaginal discharge. Luckily the uterus looked bad, but it could've looked much worse (I've seen pyos where the uterine wall was so thin you could've seen through it ). I took one of my male ferrets with me as a blood donor just in case it was needed ( male ferrets are a life saver when you need blood), but it wasn't neccessary Some pics :

Yeah she is ok She doesn't even seem to notice the incision She plays, eats, drinks like nothing ever happened. My other ferrets, after they had any surgery, they were sleepy for at least 24 hours, but she has absolutely nothing

Funny thing is, that every time we got a new ferret, it took some while to introduce him to the other ferrets cuz they were aggressive towards him. With her things are totally different. We kept her away from the other ferrets until now ( because we thought she was pregnant and now because she is post-op). But she craves after their affection, and they crave after her affection, even though they only had the chance to smell each other through the cage bars 3 or 4 times. She is constantly escaping from her cage to go and play with them and sleep in their cage. And they are desparate to enter in the room where she is kept. I don't want to let her with the other ferrets for at least 4-5 more days because they are way bigger than her ( she is just 500 g, on the biggest male is 2,5kg ) and if they play more roughly she could get hurt ( in means of stiches falling off ), but she is quite unhappy alone and she wants to stay with the others.
