Any input would be greatly appreciated on my menu. My guys will only eat ground bone at this time. Tuesday am: edible bone Ground duck wing with duck meat Tuesday pm: muscle meat Turkey heart mixed into ground duck
Wednesday am: edible bone Ground turkey wing tip with ground turkey Wednesday pm: muscle meat Turkey Heart mixed in with ground turkey meat
Thursday am: edible bone Ground turkey wing with turkey meat Thursday pm: edible bone Turkey gizzards with ground turkey meat
Friday am: edible bone Ground rabbit neck with ground rabbit meat Friday pm: muscle meat Ground turkey heart with rabbit meat
Saturday am: edible bone Ground rabbit leg with rabbit meat Saturday pm: muscle meat Rabbit breast/Organs(I can get all kinds of liver but I am currently looking for other organs)
Sunday am: edible bone Ground rabbit legs with ground rabbit
Sunday pm: liver/organ Turkey Liver mixed with ground turkey

Looks great! By my count, this is the number of meals you have (assuming the heart/meat and liver/organ/meat meals are a 50/50 mix)
Bone in: 9 Muscle: 2.5 Heart: 1 Liver/Organ: 1
Ideally, you want 1.5 meals of heart and 1.5 meals of liver/organ (in a 50/50 split).
Looks pretty good though!
"Thursday pm: edible bone Turkey gizzards with ground turkey meat" Is the ground turkey meat the part that includes bone?
Edit: I mis-counted, there are 1.5 heart meals.

She's listed 3 meals that have heart in it, so if it was half and half, it would meet the 1.5 meal goal. I'm a bit confused about the bone in meals though, is the entire cut (ie. duck neck) ground whole and then served as-is, or is additional muscle meat added to it?

Well now I'm even more lost:( The heart meals are 50% ground straight meat with 50% heart so I was thinking that was 1.5??? Yes Thursdays would be with ground bone. Anywhere that says edible bone I will be feeding ground meat with the bone...is that ok to do with the gizzards? I pretty much am pushing the gizzards to help me keep their teeth somewhat clean. They also get teeth cleaning at their vets office.
Raynebc that is where I am requiring help. Can I just ground the turkey neck and feed it or should I add more meat to the mix? I currently am feeding more meat than bone and am trying to correct this.
I have an amazing meat grinder and can grind anything. But on the other hand I have a very sensitive IBD guy and two stubborn guys that are almost three that I have not been able to switch in a years time to whole bone:(

I have to either go full on ground or kibble. I can't just keep piecing their meals together hoping that tomorrow will be the day they eat bone in. I will of course continue to offer and try the whole bone in meats.

Firstly, that is my bad! There are 1.5 heart meals. I was going to edit my response above but thought it might make the replies after confusing. That'll teach me to try and count with a migraine :\
Secondly, gizzards do nothing to help clean the teeth unless they're in large enough chunks that the ferrets are doing a lot of heavy chewing. Having said that, gizzards are still a nutritious muscle meat and you can definitely feed. Normally I would warn that they are very tough (they will destroy blenders) but if your grinder does bones you should be fine.
I don't know if I have posted this video before, but this is how I tricked my girls into eating bone:
Basically, if you can smash up the bone-in piece of meat enough (while keeping the chunk of meat intact) they will think it's like any other chunk of meat until they get to the center and discover the tasty bone. I think a good "starter bone" based on the proteins you currently feed would be rabbit ribs, cut individually like little french fries.
The other part of it is tough love. This is the absolute hardest part of any transition. It's about out-stubborning your ferrets and not giving in. Ferrets are smart and they will try to manipulate you into getting what they want (it's not hard with their adorable little faces). But because they are smart (and built to survive) they will not let themselves starve.

I agree that thinner bones are a good place to start. For tough bones like necks, if you are grinding the entire neck (meat and bone), that should be good to serve without adding more meat to it.

I am making a menu for next week when I head back to work. I am feeding turkey radcat because I need them to eat good when I am working and they love radcat, they tolerate it well and incase I am gone longer than my 13 hours my hubby can conveniently feed them. I am drawing blanks on the meals that I am not to feed bone.....can I just feed them meat or does it have to be muscle meat? How much liver in the 1 liver meal? Do I have enough heart added? Does everything look correct? They are on grind and tolerate turkey/pheasant/rabbit/duck at this time.Thank you for any input.
Monday am: Ground duck with bone Monday pm: Ground duck with bone
Tuesday am: Ground duck breast/ duck heart Tuesday pm:Turkey Radcat
Wednesday am: Ground duck with bone Wednesday pm: Turkey Radcat
Thursday am: Ground duck with bone Thursday pm: Turkey Radcat
Friday am: Ground pheasant with bone Friday pm: Ground pheasant meat
Saturday am: Ground rabbit meat or with bone depending on poop Saturday pm: Liver and rabbit kidney (if they eat 2.5 oz how much should be liver?)
Sunday am: Ground rabbit with bone Sunday pm: Ground rabbit with bone

Okay, are the ground meats complete? As in meat/bone/organ/heart? If so it looks good

The ground meat with bones are just that no organs or heart except the rad cat and where listed. I can make all of them complete but that was not my plan on this menu.
