No, as long as she is getting a full meal, and not filling up on water it is fine So- next step is to just start adding less and less water over the next week, and get her eating the grinds just wet. Then we can get you graduated!

Even though your's are on commercial raw, you should still have a good basic knowledge of raw feeding in general. So let's test a bit of that 1) List 2 good sources of taurine. 2) List 3 sources of edible bone. 3) What counts as a "different protein source?" 4) List 3 organs aside from liver. 5) What is a healthy diet item that can be used for hairballs, and his often should you give it?

Eek, a quiz! I'm replying on the spot, no cheat sheets.
1) heart, tongue 2) chicken wing, whole cornish game hen, whole mouse 3) a different animal, and at least one white and one red meat (and not just fowl) 4) kidneys, lung, brain, pancreas 5) eggs; a whole egg or just the yolk (never just the white as it binds biotin), 1 per week and up to 2 during shedding

Okay. You are off the hook for the next few days while you work at getting her to eat a thicker meal. When that is done I fully expect you to post a menu of her commercial raw food in here so we can get you graduated If you need some help getting her to a thicker state, let me know.

Sunday weigh-in: 2 lbs 2 oz, same as the last 2 weeks! I was going to say I wasn't having much success with the less water thing, BUT then last night and this morning Maisie ate more than half of her food (1 oz duck, nice and mushy and she loves it) straight out of the baggie, i.e. exactly the way it comes from Hare Today! I took a picture but don't have the camera with me right now. I can't guarantee that it's a done deal (TBH I can probably guarantee the opposite), but it's a great step forward!

I wrote down what I fed her last week. Monday 2/29 weight in: 2 lbs 6 oz (her heaviest ever!). The following are all 1 oz portions of meat unless indicated otherwise: Mon AM: beef & turkey Mon PM: beef & salmon (surf n turf!) Tue AM pheasant & pork (brought to you by the letter "P") Tue PM pheasant & pork Wed AM pheasant & chicken Wed PM 2 oz goose (NEW) Thu AM 2 oz goose Thu PM 1/2 egg & 1 oz goose & 0.5 oz mutton Fri AM 1/2 egg & 1 oz goose & 0.5 oz mutton Fri PM pheasant & chicken Sat AM turkey & rabbit Sat PM turkey & rabbit Sun AM goose & chicken Sun PM pork & goose She's beginning to eat less, more like 1-1.5 oz instead of 2+ oz per meal. The water thing is going so-so -- I was supposed to be in the field until tomorrow. While I was away, the sitter gave her water with the grind. I came back early due to an injury (torn calf muscle) and defaulted to what was easiest for a while. I'm pretty confident we can work our way back to solid state though while I was away, the sitter gave her water with the meat, and I got back early due to an injury and sometimes did what was easiest. But I'm pretty confident I can woo her back.

Congratulations :goodjob: You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone. You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days Sherry will lock down this thread and place it in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly :boing: ciao
