Was just wondering if it was safe for my ferret to eat half her feed and then come back to it after her nap? Will leaving the raw meat there for a little bit make her sick or affect her in any way?

I'm pretty new at raw feeding so I understand it takes some getting used to after being programmed for human food safety all these years. The meat will be safely edible for ferrets for a little while. Going from the template posts used in mentoring threads on this forum: "Soups" - 6-8 hours Grinds - 8-12 hours Chunks - 10-24 hours depending on the size (larger chunks last longer) Bone-in meats - 12-24 hours, again depending on the size Whole prey - up to 48 hours
It's commonly said here that if the food is going bad, they won't eat it unless they're absolutely starving. If you replenish their food every 8-12 hours it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi it wont harm them at all think ferret in the wild they kill there prey ( rabbit for example ) it may take them a week for them to eat there way through that rabbit before they go hunting again so 24 hours certainly wont do any harm mine are fed around 4 pm english time they carry there meat to a corner and dump it then go back to bed lol but next morning when I open up all meat is eaten lol ( mine prefer to eat during darkness hours ) I have even found stashed meat in beds crawling with maggots and the fuzzies look at me with disgust as if to say awww mom it was nice and tender I had left that a week i was going to eat that tonight lol so I promise you a few hours wont harm a thing take care bye for now Bev

I have caught my ferrets eating an old mummified chicken wing on several occasions, they are the masters of making jerky. mine also will not eat duck until it is hanging and dried for 2 days, strange but thy prefer it.
I think as long as it has dries and is not in a moist environment it dries out before it get stinky and rotten. None of my ferrets have gotten sick, in fact since I have switched them to raw, I do not have that sick wheezing ferret every 6 months, and I have 2- 7 year old ferrets that are still quite active.
