Little girls are TROUBLE!!!! Miss Minnie the Menace is constantly into something. She responds fairly well to correction, but the problem is that she teaches the Lights how to do bad things and they DONT respond so well to correction.. Ugh. I have a constant battle with them to keep them out of the couch. Minnie learned after 2 time-outs. The boys are on time-out 3847562984 right now and as soon as I let them out, they'll go straight back and start digging at it again. Drives me nuts!
I think all ferrets must go through times when they don't want a certain protein. I know mine do and I've talked to others who have had the same issues. My kids will go on a chicken strike and not eat chicken for a week or two. Then they'll suddenly love chicken again but they don't want pork or whatever. And they usually wait until I've bought 30 pounds of it to go on a strike, smh. When they do that, you can either feed them several meals in a row of that protein until they decide to eat it again. Or you can give them a few days without it like I usually do. I just figure they get tired of foods like we do, so if they stop eating something, I try to give them something new for a few meals. Don't worry too much about them skipping meals. It won't hurt them to miss a meal now and then. It's really funny that your boys don't like muscle days. Most ferrets seem to prefer muscle days and eat more since it's easier to eat.
You've got such sweethearts. I almost feel like I know them from all the stories. How is Charlie's health? And Otis' legs?

They are all back eating every protein. I gave them some tough love and it seemed to work well. Score one for mom. Otis is improving but slowly. He just needs to build some strength to lift his body off the floor and frankly, I have no idea how to do that so I'm experimenting. He's otherwise a pig. He eats everything absolutely everything. As soon as he hears me chopping he's up and right next to me waiting for food. He eats right off the fork and Riot does too. He learned how to drag himself down the stairs, which he is very proud of from the look on his face.
Riot, oh Riot, she has figured out a way to escape from her cage. We have no idea how or where she is squeezing through the bars but she is our little Houdini. I have a ferret Nation (older one) and I just can't believe she fits through those bars but she does. She does it daily. Ugh. I'm home everyday but I'm not happy about it. I may have to attach something to the cage but I'm afraid she'll wedge herself some how and not be able to free herself. Just makes me nervous.
Charlie has had a really good couple of weeks. Yeah! However, his darn tumor on his head is an issue. It bleeds a few times a week, a real gusher. It stops but it bothers me. I have the blood stop stuff, I also wash it daily and put neosporin in it but it's just big. He can't have the surgery to remove it. I think it bothers me more than him. He's still on antibiotics so I'm not worried about infection.
Riot has decided not to dig in the couch lately but Linus has picked up the habit again. Time outs don't work for him at all. He just sits there like it doesn't bother him and then makes a bee line back to the couch. Nothing I can really do at this point. Riot also climbs every baby gate with ease. We even decided to take the one down for upstairs bc I was worried they would fall or string. I just closed all the doors. They don't seem to interested now. Mommy took the fun away.
How is your clan doing? I hope everyone is behaving. Lol.

Thank you, ma'am. OK, jerseygirl, I just need you to post your final menu for review and answer these questions. 1. How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? 2. How much and how often can egg be fed? 3. How many different proteins does a ferret need in a week at a Minimum?

Too little and they get runny poos. 2. 1 egg per ferret per week unless shedding . Either feed the entire egg mixed or just the yolk never the whites alone. 3. 4 at a minimum.

How many bone meals do you have there? I only counted 6, but I could have missed some.

8
Chicken wings, chicken backs, CGH (twice), pork necks, turkey wings, lamb necks. I also give them chicken legs too. Smash up the bones. They love their BIM better than their muscle meals.

And they actually eat those neck bones? I can't submit the menu for approval on my mobile, so I'll have to do that when I get back to a computer. Unless @poncesmom wants to submit it for me?

Yes, I smash them to bits with my cleaver and they eat them. Why is this not okay? They've been eating them for months.

I'll pop in for Gina, since she is traveling and doesn't always have access to a computer. Neck bones are tough, some ferrets can't handle them and some can. They're fine, I believe that gfountain was just checking to make sure that they are able to eat them. Wait and see what Gina says, when she replies. She's your mentor and may have another question or reply.

The neck bones are fine. I just wanted to clarify that they were eating them before submitting the menu. I couldn't remember and didn't have time to read back. Neck bones are really tough and many ferrets won't even try to eat them. 3 of mine do, but most others on the forum don't.

Oh okay, I can use duck instead, if you prefer. I try to throw in some different proteins because the more variety the better.
