Can't find the tongue either.... every time in find it in the store I buy all that they have available. I hope it comes in soon. The crew had lamb today and well Ty ate the most but most just passed it over. So, I have no idea what is going on but it seems from the forum I'm not the only ferrent going through this. Riot must be eating Otis' stashes bc I haven't seen her ate much in the last few days. I got her to eat a tiny bit of heart soup yesterday but that's it. Her weight is the same and I guess that means she's eating something. I'm going to try egg yolks again tonight and see how it goes. The last time they all refused the egg, what a surprise?? I swear I see them all looking at me with this sign I'm freezing and it's time for a hot cup of tea... Hope your having a great day and happy Friday!!!

You're not the only one who stays confused by the fuzzies. Seasons are changing (can't tell it yet by the weather though) and they're getting ready... appetites are decreasing, they're shedding, sleep habits are changing, ounces are disappearing ( ). Keep checking weights, dangle them and check body shape (they should not be hourglass shaped), monitor poops and activity level. If all is fine, they're eating enough and don't worry. How cold is it where you are? It's been in the single digits here at night and in the teens and low 20s during the days. The precipitation had stopped for a while, but we're expecting more this afternoon to continue through the weekend and Monday morning. And it's not pretty precipitation. It's nasty 'wintry mix', so everything is wet and slick and it's going to be slushy and muddy when it thaws. Well when I got up it was a whopping 8 degrees without the wind chill. Apparently, we broke all sorts of records today in NY and NJ. I think the high was 11 and with the wind -15 degrees. Needless to say I didn't leave the house today. Tomorrow we are in for a mix of something. I forgot what state are you in? I love your ferret to-do list so sounds like my house especially ferret IN the couch. Next couch will be leather complete with metal plates under the cushions lol. No digging! I am and it's reassuring for sure. I'm going to stop freaking out and let the scale do the talking.

I'm in middle TN. We've had as much snow this afternoon, in one hour actually, as we've had all week. But now it has turned to sleet so everything will be ice by morning. My porch is already icy. I just hope we don't lose power again. The last time we had an ice storm, our power was out for almost a week. The poor linemen were out round the clock, but every time they would fix a section, another tree would fall or a line would break. In some places the ice on the lines was 2 inches thick. So we're all crossing our fingers that THAT doesn't happen again!
From stories I've heard, leather couches are not immune to ferret persistence either. They not only still get into them, their nails scratch them up. Probably your best bet would be a plain wooden bench with some throw pillow, lol.

Lo,yeah one of those metal park benches! Lol. I'll knit a couple of cushion for comfort. Lol Oh yes you are getting bad weather we've been hearing about Tenn lately. OMG ice is the worst. Hate ice. I really hope your powers stays on. I'll keep everything crossed for you. I'd rather snow than ice. North Jersey had a couple of water main breaks overnight and they showed the cars. OMG they were covered in 5" of solid ice and all 4 wheels too. I have no idea how they are going to get out without damaging something. Some girl was there for 3 hours trying to chip it off in -15 cold. I'd give up and wait for spring.
Dang I really thought leather would be better. I'm not a huge fan of leather bc my butt and legs stick to it when it gets hot. Hate that. Stay warm and safe.

Would you please tell my husband about sticking to leather? He doesn't believe me and thinks I'm making that up just because I don't want to give up my old beat up chair, lol.
I'd much rather have snow than ice, but they're saying we should have at least an inch of ice on top of whatever snow is left by morning.
Hey, speaking of knitting, I need a really soft yarn that is washable and easy to work with for a baby blanket. Any suggestions? I'm probably going to have to order online because Walmart is the only store in town that sells yarn and their selection is pretty skimpy.

Ok, so you have suggestions, lol. Now tell me which one will hold up the best, be the softest and easiest to work with. I haven't done a whole lot of crocheting lately, but my cousin is having a baby and I want to give her something handmade, so I went on Pinterest.....BIG mistake!! I spent hours looking and pinning and now I've decided to make blankets for all of my future grandchildren. My girls (I have 2) are going to need to have at least a dozen children each, lol.
I don't like having to order stuff like this without seeing and feeling. :/ Colors are not always accurate in pictures and I want soft but not flimsy. I think I'm going to need a little more help here!
What kinds of things do you knit? Do you have an online store?

Yes, I do. link. I knit and design all kinds of stuff- scarves, wraps, shawls, socks, toys, pillows, hats, mittens, gloves, Christmas Stockings but my store is focused on pillows, toys, scarves wraps, Christmas stockings, and patterns. I do crochet as well but just the basics. I so wish I could make granny squares but those ins and outs confuse the heck out of me. Knitting is so much easier. Bad idea to go on Pinterest lol...it's the black hole of lost time. I am on it all the time and I tell myself "I'm just going to see what's new, in and out quick" but in reality 2 hours go by and I've got nothing done Have you every heard of Ravelry.com? It's my favorite site made for all things fiber related. If you have an hour to spare look there it's an amazing place. I'm PreciousKnits on Ravelry. Honestly, I don't knit with craft store acrylics. In my opinion, there is a big difference btwn craft store yarn and knitting store yarn. The quality is better and it lasts without much pilling, if any. However, there are plenty of crocheters and knitters who absolutely love red heart super saver yarn and swear by it. It's the acrylic your "grandma knits with" and is found at most church bazaars. Stiff, scratchy, cheap, lots of colors but it does soften when washed and it pills a lot. I prefer natural fibers these days but when I started to knit years ago it's all I used. If I'm going to spend all that time making whatever I not only want it to last forever, I want to enjoy the process and feel of the yarn. I'm just like you, I want to feel and touch everything. If you want I'd be more than happy to send you some yarn samples so you can feel them up. We call this "yarn porn". Every knitter/crocheter is guilty of this. I was just at my yarn store this week and I had to feel all the cashmere, merino, and silk sock yarn. I'm on a sock kick lately. Can't have enough socks. I like Berroco yarn and I knit with their alpaca and wool yarns which are lovely. I haven't knit with their acrylic but I trust the brand. I also love cascade yarn line and I trust this brand as well. Encore yarn also makes a good acrylic which I used years ago. Pls ask away I,love talking knitting and yarn. Love it...really especially bc no one I know, friends or family, who knit like I do. My yarn buddies are online or own yarn stores.

I seriously laughed out loud at yarn porn! But it's so fitting. I don't like to buy anything without 'feeling it up', especially something like yarn. I wish we had a yarn store close. :/ I'm going to google and see how far away the closest one is. If there's not anything within a reasonable distance, I might take you up on those samples. I don't want to spend a fortune on yarns, but like you said, if I'm going to spend my time on something, I want it to feel nice and hold up well. Especially for babies.... I can't have my grandbabies lying on scratchy blankets! I actually just registered with Ravelry yesterday. I found a pattern I wanted and had to register to download it. Another big time drain there. :/ But I resisted the urge to browse. I'll go back when I have more time. And I just realized that we are doing all this yarn talk on the main switching thread, lol. I should probably add a warning for anyone reading along that the thread has been hijacked! I'm going to ask further yarn questions in PMs so we don't get in trouble with the powers that be, lol. So how are the ferrets? What size are their chunks now? Is Ty doing better with the larger pieces yet? Oh, and granny squares are easy, double crochets and chains. I'm headed to your store now.

I gave them 2 eggs yolks today with their chicken backs for dinner, Ty did great tonight. I was so happy. I left the pieces large tonight about 2" x 1" and some smaller just to see what will happen and they did great. (They didn't eat much but they ate the large pieces well) Linus and Otis didn't have a problem at all. Ty did great although it took him a long time to eat each piece but he did it on his own. I was tempted to help him but I didn't. Riot didn't eat anything today that I saw. I tried hand feeding her with no luck. Spit it out no matter how many times I shoved it in her mouth. I even got it far back and she still managed to spit it out. I also tried the egg yolk wit her and she had a couple of licks just to please mom and then acted as if it was horrible medicine... Tried Charlie's CC nope. Same reaction as the egg yolk. What's her deal? So far I've tried EVOO, coconut oil, CC and eggs a no go for all. I need to find something to bribe her with. Should i try salmon or fish oil? Can I get them in the health food store?
She is definitely blowing her coat. It's coming out by the handful. I tried brushing her and that didn't go over too well. Lol. She scampered right down and ran to her favorite spot. Otis too. His coats getting yellow but not coming out like Riots. He had the same reaction with the brush. Hysterical. Still stashing like crazy. They are both so friendly and loving. Riot gave me kisses for like 5 minutes. Only my Charlie has ever given us humans kisses. So sweet. They are no longer new to the group as I found all 4 sleeping in the same hammock in the morning. A smooth transition which is what we hope for....
Charlie has been holding his own. He had some diarrhea today and I have no idea why, he's still putting on weight which is great. He has BCT on his head which is just huge but the hole is finally healing and it's growing hair. Lovely. I wish I could get the darn thing removed but surgery is not an option for him right now. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. He doesnt itch or scratch it. Poor Charlie...he's a trooper though.

Awww.. One big happy family! That's so good to hear. Don't you just love shedding season? I joke in my house that I could make a sweater out of all the fur floating around. In your case, you probably actually could it you could spin all that fluff into yarn, lol. But shedding means a danger of hairballs forming so really push that egg. They can have it several times a week right now until the shedding is finished. Try mixing it into the organ/heart soup to get some into Riot. Also, try giving her just the yolk on your finger. Rub it on her gums whenever you think about it so she can get used to the taste. Salmon or fish oil are worth a try. I've seen fish oil in the drugstore in capsule form. I'm not sure where to find it in bottles except online, maybe a health food store or a pet store. Just make sure it's 100% pure, no additives. Riot still has plenty of energy so she's obviously eating something when you're not watching. She's eating the same food as the boys now isn't she? Shedding means they think spring is on the way and all their appetites will decrease, as well as their weights. Just keep an eye on activity and poops, and if you're worried, dangle them and make sure their sides aren't pinching in. Poor Charlie. He's having such a rough time. Is he still sleeping better or is he back to getting up every half hour? Is he still on antibiotics?

Lay let me give you the cliffs notes. Riot is back on soup. I know I know... Her energy drastically reduced for 2 days in a row and so I caved and made her soup. She's been eating like a pig and I'm going to start again with slivers. This morning they ALL had heart. Is it okay if I don't add heart or liver to riots soup? I'm make organ soup for everyone and she will eat hers with the rest of my bunch? I'll add the bone meal though. Riot and Ty HATE EVOO. Lovely and they act like its poison. Charlie is good. I've had a couple of foaming mouth moment but not scratching. He is also eating less. Season change too? Ty is slimming down and so is Linus. It must be the seasons. Otis and Riot are blowing their coats as well. I'm still making small to large (my large not yours chunks. Linus and Otis handle them fine. Ty still struggles gets annoyed and walks away. I'm not giving in though. He's going to have to figure it out. While I was at the vet today I happen to run into the owners of a dog/cat daycare/bed and breakfast and I discovered they carry Stella a Chevys FDR. Can I feed that to them? I was thinking I could add a couple new proteins to their diet this way - quail, pheasant and duck, I think she had rabbit too. If you don't think it's a good idea can I use them as treats? I need to find something I can bribe Ty and riot with bc they aren't liking anything I've tried so far. Other than baby food and I'm not going there with Ty. He'll hold out for it and moms done with that game. Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/16291/jersey-girls-switching-journal?page=4#ixzz3St8FoYA7
