Okay so Riot is still very itchy and he is losing hair pretty fast now. The thinning hair makes him look skinnier but his weight has remained stable, he even gained a few ounces. Can I give him melatonin? If so how much and when? I just want to relieve his symptoms. Poor little guy everytime he starts playing he has to take a time out to itch.
He is already on Lupron and we are waiting for the implant.

Aww poor guy-I have 2 (well, 1 vet confirmed) adrenal babies so I know these itchies you're talking about Does he like salmon or EVOO? (EVOO=Extra Virgin Olive Oil). That will help with the itchiness plus it's good for them. Regarding your question about the melatonin; My vet said 1mg per day. I have not given melatonin to my ferrets because I could not consistenly give the dose at the same time everyday. It has to be given 7-9 hours after sunrise and I'd still be at work then. I'm glad he's on lupron, you're such a good ferrent! I too am waiting on the implant (frustrating). I think some use coconut oil (virgin also) and then your babes will smell delicious!

Yeah he likes salmon oil. We use it on his food to get him to start eating it so he is getting plenty. I have to give it to him the same time every day? The sun rises here at 7 ish right now, I can use my phone to get an exact time, so 7 to 9 hours after that? 1 mg a day? I have only used the pill form, does it come in liquid?
If I can't give it to him the same time every day then it's pointless right?

That's my impression - has to be the same time everyday for it to work. I think that's why a lot of people do the melatonin implant instead. I also had a hard time finding 1mg (I saw a lot of 3 my and 5mg). There is liquid, but make sure to check the ingredients (should be straight melatonin). Supposedly the melatonin cannot hurt, but I was more concerned about what was happening inside Zekrom's body vs the hair missing on his tail (also why I pushed for the lupron which Riot already got).
I wish I had better advice. ..I hope little Riot gets some relief soon!

I just wish that implant would get here already! I feel like the lupron isn't doing anything for him. I know the results would be slow but I expected to see some sort of relief by now. Not increased hair loss and no relief from itching. Makes me wonder if surgery might be a good option. (headwall)

I know and I'm sympathizing with you. January is the now possible date but I'm feeling this is the same run around that we got with the distemper vaccine (not the same company, so not to worry). They kept doing quarterly updates and it was always the next quarter. It's now been almost 2 yrs It's nothing like giving us a viable option only to take it away and hang it out there like the proverbial carrot ciao
