Alright so vet visit today for my boy. The vet, who was much better than the last one I saw, agrees that his stage is fairly mild so she thinks he is just starting to show symptoms. The implant should be available late December early January. There is a big list so lets hope he can get it. For now, we started him on Lupron but I can't keep that up forever because it's 80 bucks a month plus the 50 dollar appointment. I got the quote for the implant, 160 so not to bad, I can handle that. We also talk about surgery but we agreed unless I can't get the implant AND his symptoms begin getting worse, I will opt out for the moment for that option. I hope that we caught it early enough that I can get some more time with him.

I don't know much about Adrenal, but I'm sorry for your news. I'm glad the vet caught it early & believes it's a mild case. So you caught it right away.

You should be able to get at least a couple of years yet. I agree that the DES is indeed the cheapest method of treatment, I'm also much happier with the results as well. If given every 6 months, you should be able to get more than a few years yet with your little one (at least against the adrenal) ciao

@deariie He's about 5 according to his teeth. He acts two though! I hope he can get it too. Hopefully the lupron will help for now until we can get it.

What a sweetie. Your tag on @deariie, didn't tag. Hover your cursor over their name and see how it's spelled. Often, the name is different than it appears. You will know that it took, when you post and the name pops up in Bold type.

I'm sorry he has the dreaded adrenal disease I was blindsided when my Zoey (turned 3 years old July 17th) was diagnosed (her gland was enlarged) 05/17/14 Thankfully that was prior to the des implant recall/backorder so she got the implant that day. (also $160 here) I have suspected adrenal in my Zekrom (turned 3 years old October 15th) since last year, but 3 different vets did not think he was adrenal. We had a scare thanksgiving week where I thought his prostate was enlarged preventing urination! (which gave him a prolapse too-my poor baby) I got him a lupron shot (also $80 here). I hear ya on not being able to do lupron and hoping the implants become available soon! I'm glad you were able to get him the shot now! Hang in there mom! You're doing a great job with him!

Thanks! Hoping his energy levels perk back up too. ferretmomma, did you have any side effects with the lupron? He seems really sleepy today and last night. He also had bloodwork done last night too.

Aww poor guy! Yes, when Zekrom got his shot he was very sleepy. What worried me was he didn't wake up to eat (he's my good Eater! I think if he had access to soupie 24/7, he would eat until he would pop!) BUT, by morning (about 13 hours after the injection) he woke up and had a big breakfast! Then about 48 hours later everyone (I have 5 ferrets total) was nonstop playing for 2 hours! Probably since Riot had blood work too, it may take him a day or 2 to bounce back. I don't have experience with lethargy, but I think there's a difference between that and sleepy. If something just doesn't seem right, trust your gut.

Alright thanks! I'll keep an eye on him. I don't know how much blood they take but the spot is still a little red today from the site so I'm sure he is still feeling it. If he isn't up and about tomorrow, I'll call the vet back.

The lupron lasts at least twice as long as advertised before signs show up again. wish i could get it. From my experience it works much faster too. I must get jaffs on the list.

ferretmomma, Yes! Thank you for checking up him. He's been eating on his own, if I put out the food he likes, . He's been playing and roaming around. I haven't seen any more sexual aggression and his itching has decreased immensely!
