So Maisie had blockage surgery Monday evening -- blow-by-blow account here: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/16898/salmon-oil-hydration
She has 4 meds to take in the morning, 2 at night. It's such a miserable experience for both of us that I tried putting all 4 meds into one syringe today:
- metacam 0.05 cc (pain) for 5 days
- omeprazole 0.7 mg (antibiotic in powder form) 1x/day for 14 days
- baytril 0.2 cc (liquid antibiotic) 2x/day
- clavamox 0.2 cc (liquid antibiotic) 2x/day
Is there any reason I shouldn't do that? It's such a fight to get anything in her that I'd rather do it just the one time. She grinds her teeth after so I'm hurting her
I've tried combining with Tone. I've tried Katt's trick with the 2 syringes (thanks for the video!), I've tried Sherry's burrito wrap (thanks for the video too!). At this point I have to wrap her AND scruff her AND hold her tight AND force her mouth open. It's awful. I dread it all day
She actually ate some kibble (sorry, not switched yet) of her own accord this morning (Day 4), so I'm beginning to think that perhaps my aftercare might not kill her. I've read so many other people's experiences, even going back to the old HFF and reading about Koda's 1st surgery! (Ah, Koda.) And thank you everyone for all the information that's there and here. It's gold. I'm just having a horrible time with the practical side of things
So bottom line: can I at least traumatize her (and me) once per session, instead of lining up 4 syringes??? Any opinions on the meds she's taking? Any reason I shouldn't mix them? I know metacam can be problematic (thank you archives!) but I've decided to give it to her anyway. Thanks for reading my miserable ramble
Please help me!!!
