Have you thought of using something other than chicken wings? Quail or pheasant comes to mind. Chicken backs, necks, turkey wings (not much other bone can be eaten by most ferrets off a turkey, though I"ve had them eat the nice cartilage and the breast bone. Rabbit is another good bone meat. They can eat it all except for maybe the skull. I'm guessing you're using your beef tongue instead of heart? You have some wiggle room because you can add another bone in meal if you need it (bone is heavy with wings so you may not) Good start. Do they eat all of this? ciao

Everything except i am not sure about the kidney all the stores here do not carry organ. Even checked the other side of town out of 6 asian stores no one had any organ or quail only quail eggs and canned organ. Im making my order from mypetcarnivore for a month of organ and beef heart i just needed to make sure my menu was right before i ordered too little. Id love to give them more options ive been thinking of trying duck since its easily available. I did try ground turkey no one really cared for it. Ive tried cod my 5 love it the 8 it takes going back to soup to introduce new proteins. I tried lamb no one likes it. I did find quail at winn dixie but at 8.99lb id see it as a once in awhile treat. They do eat pretty much anything chicken neck, wings, back, ribs, the whole Cornish hens.

I found my guys a bit touchy about the kidney. That is an organ meal so depending on how your dividing up your organ meals you may have too much organ meats. I think the smell turned them off. Liver sometimes is a texture issue. Cod is a good occasional protein as well. I'm thinking of using some duck as it's easily available albeit rather expensive. It's a great fatty meat if you need some extra fat to offset lean meals, such as turkey breasts. You're diet's not bad, great first start. You will find that you will change proteins as they come available. Keep changing up proteins, trying new things and your little ones will be more receptive to new meats. ciao

Is there another organ on that website? I saw pancreas but not much else. I actually picked up some salmon on sale tonight to see if I can get my 8 interested. It has gotten easier when I put new proteins in. Their weights stay within .05 oz every weigh in. I still sit with them from time to time and give them a few pieces by hand I have a few that want me in there occasionally I can't say no. all of them love liver and will eat it in chunks they used to pick it out on the thick soup stage and eat it. Tongue has a very strong smell but after awhile they took to it. Here's what I have on organ let me know if it needs adjusted. Room of 8 9 Oz tongue 1 meal 9 Oz organ 1 meal 4.5 tongue 2.25 liver 2.25 organ 1 meal Room of 5 6 Oz tongue 1 meal 6 Oz organ 1 meal 3 oz tongue 1.5 liver 1.5 organ 1 meal

How much organ meats you feed is going to be relative to the size of your ferrets. I can say no more than 2 oz per ferret per week but 2 oz for a tiny jill is a lot more for her than for her 4 lbs hobbish counterpart. The idea is to feed approx 10% per weight of the ferret. I know that makes things a bit of a pain in the arse when it comes to multiple feedings but that's the easiest way to figure out your organ percentages ciao

Hmm. Well that does make things a bit difficult. How much they eat depends on how much house free roam they get varies 30mins to 3 hours a day and each group has a whole room.
Weight wise this is what I have all my fuzzies have their winter weight and are over 1 year old so no kits luckily they are also past the tons stage. My girls rarely eat more than .5 oz at a time.
Pepper 1.9 lbs Jr 2.7 lbs dale 2.8 lbs dib 3.10 lbs bonnie 1.6 lbs Clyde 3.4 lbs Tonto 2.3 lbs gaz 1.4 lbs
Casper 2.6 lbs smokey 2.7 lbs bandit 2.5 lbs taz 2.4 lbs akiko 2 lbs
