Okay going to the store now to get a different protein. I can't afford lamb and I don't know where I would get rabbit or goat but if the store has it ill buy it. Being lectured on money and so I gotta do the cheapest option.
So, you're gonna be my mentor? Yay!!! I'll be watching for our thread! (Dance)

Google Halal Market in your area - they usually carry goat and it's usually not too expensive. Otherwise pork is a good option and pretty cheap - buy a bulk pack of pork chops.

I just got home, didn't see your post till now but I bought boneless pork loin, is that okay? It was on sale.. lol
Do I just blend it up with water and do you want me to give it to him tonight? All I have in organs are from chickens, chicken heart and chicken liver. I have an Asian Market about 30mins from me that is supposed to carry pork heart and liver, last time I went was like a month ago and they didn't have it, but it will have to wait until next week before I can go back up there.

katt and also, Caillou is VERY, VERY picky, he might refuse to eat this new food, he's never had pork before, just chicken, lamb, turkey, and quail. Usually I can get him to eat new food by adding his favorite salmon oil in, but then he refuses to eat without salmon oil for several weeks and becomes a pain. I have to feed him with his new medicine, should I force it to him in the syringe if he refuses to eat on his own? I'm concerned about, if he's on a new medicine and we take him off chicken at the same time, and he gets better, how will we know if it was the chicken or gingivitis, or both? Sorry for the pile of questions.. lol

No, if he won't take it, then mix a little bit into the chicken soup and we will swap them over gradually. And yes, start with just blending the pork with some water to make a puree. Finger feed him some puree and if he hates it, mix a little into his chicken soup. And yes, pork loin is just fine. Pork meat is pork meat. I just know that I see bulk packs of pork chops on sale a lot so figured that would be an inexpensive option. You're good to go though. Maybe call the Asian market and see if they can order some in?

Okay he does well mixing stuff in, it's how I got them to eat their turkey. I'll have to get someone to call for me, I can't understand what they say, at all, and so I get my sister or mother or someone to call for me (shy)
Should I mix the medicine with the pork soup, or the chicken soup?
My luck, is chicken allergy. CHICKEN. Seriously? LOL. I'm thinking of taking out a credit card in Caillou and Juliet's name :face: if something can go wrong, it surely will! lol.

We've never tried beef, I don't know of any food allergies he has we are just suspecting chicken allergy. Most ferrets don't like beef too much I hear, because it's so strong. But he does like lamb, it's just too expensive for an every day food.

katt a little update on Mr. Chew, Blended up a pork sirloin with some water into his favorite consistency, pudding-like, it was 2 oz pork soup and 0.5 oz the normal chicken soup, I gave him his Baytril and he was hesitant to eat at first, like always, but then after encouraging him he dove in, he ate every.single.bit. He LOVED it! He ate 2.5 ounces of soup tonight, even though he ate 2 full ounces this morning, he probably would've easily eaten more too, so, we know he likes pork then. Yay! Haha I had such a time getting his medicine ready... you have to use a needle to syringe it up then take the needle off, and I poked myself pretty good with it and had blood everywhere.. lol. He hated it, but he hated his other medicine too. Fingers crossed he starts feeling better in a few days.

Oh, Baytril is vile stuff. They always hate it. I don't blame them as it's incredibly bitter. I have better luck with pills. They can be cut up and poked down before they have a chance to realize how nasty it is. Then, followed up with a quick bite of something they really like.
