So we have a bit of a termite problem in our house that was suppose to have been fixed before we bought our house 3 years ago, but apparently was not. We are going to have to tent our house and gas it. Has anyone else had to do this before with ferrets? I asked the termite guy if the house would be safe for ferrets after being tented and he said that there would be no residual dust or gas, but I'm still concerned about it. Does anyone know if our house will truly be safe enough for them to re-enter after the tenting? Any info and advice would be appreciated!

I would say they'll be fine. If he is a professional then he knows what he's talking about and many people who have animals bring their pets back in after tenting I'd say. I've never had it done, but if there isn't going to be any residual dust or gas, I don't see a problem. Hopefully someone on here who has dealt with this will answer and can give their experience with it.

I'm sure he does know his stuff, it's just that people don't understand the biology of ferrets and they are so much more sensitive to things than most pets these exterminators encounter. I guess I just don't understand the tenting process and chemicals used so it makes me nervous. I don't understand how these chemicals can be pumped into a home and kill all the insects living there yet not leave toxic residue of some sort in and on the house.

I'd find out exactly what insecticides they are going to be using and do some research.

So I did my research and all I could find was that the chemicals used dissipate before you return to your home and that the home will be safe for all living creatures. Again, has anybody ever had to tent/fumigate their home before?
