So my 4 have ear mites and the vet said revolution would help. She told me the kitten dose which i already knew..... but she told me to use and entire dose for each ferret..... that really doesn't seem right.... they also told me an entire dose of rabies booster too. that they have one thats the same for a kitten as it is an 80 lb dog... that doesnt sound right either or am i wrong? Ophelia is 1.67lbs and Misty is 1.87lbs i havent weighed the other two yet.

The revolution I can't help you with. I don't use it....but the rabies is true. If you get a rabies for your Chi, it's the same dilution and amount that you give to a 200lbs St Bernard. There is a special rabies for ferrets it the Imrab 3. It doesn't matter if it's a 1 lb jill or a 5 lb hob...the amount is the same. ciao

I don't think they have that. they were talking about using the same as the dog/cat and giving benadryl after the shot.

If you're in the US, make them give the proper shot. You're paying for it. If you were in the UK, then no, they don't have it and it has to be ordered...but if you're in the US or Canada demand that they give you the proper shot for your ferret. Benadryl....that makes me angry, the cure all for everything. We've had a number of ferrets react severely to their rabies and whenever you check it's been the dog one. If they're going to force you to get rabies for your ferret demand the right one. They can if they so choose. To make matters worse if your ferret bites, and they've used a dog rabies vaccine they can say that it's not protected because the rabies used is not the one that is tried and tested on ferrets. Only the Imrab 3 can be used and protect your ferret.....yes you can use a dog vaccine and it will work but the powers that be may choose not to accept it. Why put toxins not meant for your ferret into an animal that is already prone to reactions to these toxins. Why put that much toxin into a ferret. At least the amount of the vaccine is geared toward a ferret and not a 200lb St Bernard. Your vet works for you, make him do his job or find another vet. ciao

I drive by 5 vet offices, one is only 10 minutes away but I've dealt with them and refused to deal with their excuses and their poor advice because they don't know about ferrets. I don't mind working with a vet who doesn't know anything but they've got to be willing to answer my questions and look toward getting the right answer instead of just going "this is what I say because I said it". My vet is about an hour away. I'm more than willing to drive 2 or more hrs to get the treatment my little ones need ciao
