Because it bacon, thats why. That was my husband excuse for giving Bigboy a tiny smidgen of cooked bacon. He was in the kitchen cooking bacon and Biggie came in there and was messing around at his feet, so my husband reached down and gave him the tiniest smidgen of a piece of bacon. Id say about the size of a bacon bit. Now BigBoy is in love. We cook it and he goes nuts wanting to go to the kitchen and get some. Its really kinda funny. Brian says Bacon is the food of the Gods, no matter which God you serve, and Biggie should be able to have bits of it as a snack. SO I figure Id ask here. Whats the low down guys? Bacon, yay or nay?

The sodium in it isn't good for them. Not a good habit to encourage.

The sodium and grease and such is really not good for them, I wouldn't risk it, ferrets are obligate carnivores, they don't digest anything but plain meat, and even the smallest amount can cause problems or a stomach upset.

You could see if your ferret likes unseasoned ground pork, or as katt suggested in your switching thread, some pork belly.

pork belly is just unsmoked / unpickled, uncooked bacon. It can be a bit to rich for them though. As for bacon, no. Far to high in salt.

See you've created a monster (headwall) Don't feed them smoked anything...ham, bacon any of those smoked meats it's really bad for them (not great for us either) Yes, they will love it, it's like feeding them raisins and bananas....it's also very bad for them. ciao

See my response in your switching thread. Bacon has lots of really bad stuff for them. I would not even feed a little bit. Not even a bacon-bit size. Sorry Bigs!
