I go away on vacation and come home to find you have new ferrets. I'm going away more often (dance)
You're doing so well with all of them. Congratulations and very nice ferrenting.

I lucked out that these young ferrets are more quickly hungry than they are stubborn about food. I took their weights again this morning. Rusty and Cally were a little heavier than last weigh in, Reska and Copper will a little lighter. I hope Reska and Copper are only getting lighter because they now have playmates to keep them active, I'm still trying to adjust portion sizes to keep ahead of their collective appetite.

Young ones can really eat alot.
Reska and Cooper probably are getting more exercise. I've also noticed that during a switch, they continue to get leaner and then more muscular. It seems to take awhile. The fur changes quickly but months down the road of a switch, you still see some body changes.
How were your intros? Did Reska or Cooper let them know who was the boss?

They've been getting along pretty well, but Copper likes to chase Cally around and she squeals (probably because she's deaf). I posted a video of that in their thread ( holisticferret60.proboards.com/post/270895/thread). Copper's also taken to grooming the new guys, and I hear that's him asserting his dominance. That's pretty funny though, he was such a lazy guy back when it was just him and Reska.

For a snack I made a big pile of turkey gizzard slivers and mixed in two eggs, filling the plate to the brim. It was a failure though, aside from Rusty drinking a lot of egg and Cally eating a few slivers (and stashing at least as many), it looked like most of it was left by dinner time. For dinner, they got chicken wing and they all seemed hungry.

Their plate was picked clean by lunch time, although I did see Cally chomping on a piece or two she had stashed on paper to dry out. She's the only food stasher out of the bunch as far as I've seen.
For lunch they got a big plate of organ combo (beef heart, chicken hearts, pork kidney, chicken liver) mixed with some duck/goose FDR and 1/2 tsp of bone meal. As they often do, all four were huddled at the plate when I set it down so I quickly went to wash my hands and get the camera, but Cally had wandered off.

Almost all of the organ meal was gone. I took their weights again. Copper and Reska were down a little more and Rusty and Cally were up a little since last time. Everybody but Reska attacked the plate of quail as soon as I set it down for late night dinner: drive.google.com/file/d/0B1VNFqdtmy_id3FBY2h0b2JDOU0/view?usp=sharingAfter a while I heard Copper pestering Cally again and he was pinning and grooming Rusty again. Rusty still doesn't like this but if he doesn't fight back he'll never be top fert. I saw Reska hiding in a box appearing to be eating so I added some warm water to the remaining quail (should be enough to fill her up) and she came and drank some water but didn't seem in the mood for food. She may have had enough of a quick bite before I came to check on her. I want to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't get too much lighter. She's already a few ounces lighter than Cally, who's growing bigger at a pretty good rate. If she gets big and feisty enough to kick Copper to the curb she may become alpha.
