I guess every litter has a downside, I'll try those things and see if it helps

Yes there's no perfect litter, yesterdays news lasts awhile and very little mess, but not as absorbent or odor controlling. The corn/wheat type litters last, great for better waste removal but the mess omg. That stuff goes everywhere. Paper towels/newspaper need to be replaced often. Wood pellets are cheap, but break down too fast for me and heavy. Currently I'm using worlds best cat litter with only one ferret and box.

I ran out of swheat scoop so yesterday I went to petsmart to try Worlds Best *advanced natural* Cat Litter. I cleaned it this morning and here's the scoop-
Swheat scoop was pretty good at odor absorbing and clumping, but it tracked a crazy amount, and when I dumped all the litter out I had to sit and scrape the bottom to get the stuck litter from their pee off the bottom.
Worlds Best is so far working a lot better for me. It does track but not nearly as much as swheat scoop, just a couple pieces. It clumps A LOT better, in perfect balls of pee/poop and doesn't take as much litter to clump as the other. It is very expensive, but sometimes it's just worth it. Plus the 12 lb bag for $16.58 is supposed to last 30 days for 2 cats it's says, and I have two ferrets so we will see on that.
So all in all WBCL is a lot better than swheat scoop, even though more expensive, it's better imo, but I will probably just try several different clumping litters just to see if I can find the actual world's best one. I'll be keeping everyone updated.

Hi folks I use wood based cat litter pellets cause they are cheap and easy to get. My guys were used to pooping in the corner on newspaper but it would get damp from the pee then they would shred it and play in it. They still snorkel and play in the edge of the litter tray and it does track a bit but its not so bad when they are outside in a hutch - I can sweep it all back into their litter box or shake their fleeces out on the lawn. I have to laugh though the silly creatures manage to get a handful of the pellets and stash them in a corner in the lower level of their hutch and some times put a toy or bit of food on top or a little poop lol. Its very random only happens about once or twice a week lol

I tried wood stove pellets for a few weeks, they were really cheap and easy to find but my boy pees so much that it turned into powder after 2-3 days and then the powder got all over their cage. Does that happen for you or was it just me? Perhaps you have a different type then I got though.

Yeah with the wood pellets that does happen with the tracking and when they pee it does go powdery. I do what I used to do with my cat daily I remove the poops and the wet bits and top it up with fresh pellets normally a handful or two.
Tracking isn't really an issue for me cause mine live outside and play outside but if they were inside I would definitely consider different litter.
