More out of curiosity and to not be shamelessly cheering. My biggest ferret, Ridley, had not, in the entire two+ weeks I've owned him, used the litterbox without me putting him in there. I was using Petco brand paper pellet litter. Well, I finally ran out, and bought, on several recommendations, Swheat Scoop. Lo and behold, he's now used it twice! Yay! So, what do you guys use, and what would you never use again? In unrelated news, I need to make a digbox

I use Yesterday's News. It's all or ever used, haha. Does yours clump? Clumping litter would be so lovely to switch to, but I had thought it was a bad idea for ferrets.

It is clay litters that are bad. There are some safe ones now on the market. Swheat scoop, world's best, blue buff walnut to name three

I've been a fan of corn cob litter ever since I had gerbils as a kid. The bottom of the bag does collect some dust, but it stays well settled and I can use a damp paper towel to collect the dust from the litter box. Otherwise my ferrets have never had any problems using it, and luckily they do not see it as a food item. As is typical with ferrets, they do like to snorkel a little bit when the litter box is "too clean," but they don't do it too often.

I use Cat's Pride Fresh and Light. It is the best in clumping and odor control than any other litter, even better than the premium arm and hammer. My ferret is very good around the litter so I don't worry of the possibility of ingestion and blockage. This is mainly an issue with kits and clumping litter, older adults are less likely to ingest.

I use Yesterdays News, have been using it for 4 years now. I did use wood fuel pellets for about a month, but it turned into powder when my boys peed in it, and that was very annoying so I switched back.
I never tried a clumping litter because I was told it is bad for them, but if there is some that is safe to use then I'll jump in the car and go straight to petsmart! Haha.
I have problems with my litter turning into powder, it's when my boy pees, I have to dump the whole box out and change the litter every 2-3 days just because of him. I would loveee a clumping litter. :thankyou:

I use to use World's best (which clumps) but it was sooo expensive! So I switched to sweatscoop and it clumps and is pretty good with odor eliminating as well. I use sweatscoop and then a layer of yesterdays news on top to lessen the amount of the litter tracking everywhere. It works really well for me

So far so good! It does use a lot to clump, but I am seeing no powder substance, so I'm pretty happy Although it does track, it tracks a lot. I just spent a good 2-3 minutes wiping the litter off of their bedding, that's no fun :face: I might try worlds best when I run out of swheatscoop. Just to see. It is almost $5 more than it but sometimes it's worth it!

We use puppy pads, s1nce there are four free roam ferrets and an upsta1rs and downsta1rs. 1 tr1ed l1tterboxes, but everyone thought the l1tterbox was a d1g box and 1 had l1tter everywhere and Poos r1ght next to the boxes.
When my four went to PVO ferret camp, wh1le we were on vacat1on, 1 learned that Pam uses washable puppy pads. Her basement setup 1s very cool and she must have ten or f1fteen ferret nat1ons, for all of her ferrets and those she fosters and boards. So, washable puppy pads make alot of sense and seem l1ke such a good 1dea.

The tracking is starting to bother me, if it didn't track it would be the best litter, but I think I'm gonna try some different ones to find one that tracks less.
Does anyone have any ideas to help it track less maybe?

You might try putting something for the ferrets to wipe on in front of the litter box, like paper towels or a regular towel.
