So Loki is visiting his grand-ferrants and he has fallen in love with one of their cat toys. It's a bright red squeaky toy. It feels like it has a fake velvet texture on the outside of it. I know that if he rips it apart he could swallow the squeaky part. But has anyone else heard/seen any issues with this type of toy? Loki absolutely loves it, more than I have seen him love any of his other options. Thank you for your help! (I tried to attach a photo of it, but I haven't had success in the past with posting pictures here)

Its hard to tell without a picture. Do you have a photobucket account? I can help you post pictures, if you do. Or, if you go to petsmart or petco's website, maybe you can find it and post a link. Some ferrets are more likely to get in trouble with toys (like katt and her little Koda). Mine are not chewers or rippers, how is Loki with chewing?

lol thanks, I just noticed the discussion about photobucket and uploaded the picture there. I am going to edit my post after I answer your other question.
Loki doesn't chew hard or even very long. He more likes to hold onto it as he rolls around with it.

Since he is having so much fun with it, I wouldn't want to take it away. I don't see anything that mine could get into, but just to be safe, supervise Loki while he plays with it.
Nice job on loading the picture!

It looks like a rubber squeaky toy covered in velvet. Absolutely NO rubber toys. Period. Sorry but it simply isn't worth the risk. A 2 year old human kid might have tons of fun playing with that cool shiny knife, but you wouldn't let them play with it because it's dangerous. Same thing goes for rubber and ferrets. Yes, it is fun to see them enjoying themselves and hard to take away something they love, but it is no less dangerous (I would venture to say even MORE dangerous!) than letting a toddler play with knives. I am sorry if I sound harsh here, but rubber is simply an absolute no-no for ferrets. If you let them play with rubber toys you are putting their lives at risk. Take it from someone who has been through MULTIPLE emergency foreign body removals. It just isn't worth it.

If you DO let him play with it I would do so under strict supervision only, and check it thoroughly each time.
