I currently feed my ferret commercial raw frozen food that is already portioned into "medallions". This makes feeding extremely quick, easy, and convenient.
I ordered some raw ground food from hare-today. It is generally not recommended to refreeze raw meats. How can I safely portion these out? Does anyone have any portioning methods or safety practices they can share?

I thawed mine in the fridge until they were just soft enough to scoop with a cookie scoop (the meat still had ice crystals in it). I did refreeze.

Go to the hardware store and buy yourself a hacksaw, or if you plan on doing this for a while a band saw. cut the meat while frozen rock hard. Only use it for food, clean it well after each use before it thaws.
I think Home depot has a ryobi band saw for like $100.00 otherwise a cheap hack saw will work.

I did use my saw to cut bravo chubs before. I used the one in my workshop and just cleaned well before and after.

I know many people in the dog community who refreeze thawed meat for their dogs. Not sure if the same can be applied for ferrets but I don't see why not.

I buy in bulk when possible. I thaw in the bottom of the fridge, portion out and refreeze. There are no issues with this as long as you are not consistently thawing and refreezing the same piece if meat.

Thank you for the advice. I'll thaw/refreeze via the fridge as quickly as possible.
